Microsoft may release Surface Pro 4 Windows 10 tablets in two different screen sizes

Microsoft is rumored to launch two new Surface Pro 4 Tablets with Windows 10 later this year. If rumors that are flying around are to be believed Microsoft is going to have a mega-hardware event in October. Microsoft is working actively on two Surface tablets according to a new report. The two tablets are scheduled to be launched by the end of 2015.One of the tablets will have a 12-inch display much akin to Surface Pro -3while the other tablet is believed to have a display of 13 to 14 inches.

The Taiwan-based publication DigiTimes, quoting people in the supply chain has reported that Microsoft has placed orders for two separate sized displays. The report adds that Amazon too has bought some displays. Amazon has placed orders for display panels in 12-inch screen size. It has however placed limited orders for less than 100,000 displays per month.  Amazon is rumored to be working on a new Android -powered Kindle tablet.

Microsoft burnt its fingers with the launch of its first few Surface tablets. However, Microsoft's fortunes changed with the launch of Surface Pro 3. The Surface Pro 3 was a runaway success and has helped the tablet line to rake in profits to the company. Microsoft has already released a low specced version of Surface 3 in March. Perhaps Microsoft is smelling profit and wants to bet big on Surface Tablets.

It is not the first time we hear about a new Surface tablet in the offing. A report last week said that Microsoft is planning a mega-hardware event in October when it will unveil a new Surface Tablet  and also two new Windows Phone –powered handsets (Cityman and Talkman), and the Microsoft Band 2.Another report hinted that Microsoft is also working Surface Mobile handset.

The Surface 3 has carved a niche for itself as the best productivity tablet according to CNET right after its release in 2014.

Google Inc. To Map Out UK With Release Of Project Tango Tablet

The Guardian has reported that Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has released its 3D-mapping tablet Project Tango in the United Kingdom. This is the first time that the search engine giant has released the product on the European side of the world. Google announced this project last year, where it developed a tablet that has been fitted with different kind of sensors. These include a 4 megapixel motion-tracking camera and a 3D depth sensing sensor to help the device map out all the dimensions. The tablet uses other technologies that make it possible for the device to know its location in a 3-D style environment.

More so, the tablet is also fitted with an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a barometer to factor in data from other sources as well. While the device can use these three sensors to track movement, tablet rotation, and height, it also has a GPS, a compass, and a light sensor to differentiate between low light and high light environments.

The development kit is on for sale for $512, which will let app-makers explore the technology before it's released on a wider scale, as other companies also enter the market with their products. The Guardian reports that Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has also joined the project by building its own software for the tablet.

The product manager for the project, Larry Yang, spoke to the publication and gave the example of a super market where the tablet could track the entire store and would direct a customer towards a product they are looking for. Developers will have the option of making apps that compliment outside and inside surroundings to help the user get to where he wants.

The tech world has come to a point where tech companies are expanding to manufacture cars. The auto industry is stagnant and companies like Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA), Google, and possibly Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) are entering the race. While Tesla and Apple might not yet contemplate having autonomous cars, Google is already quite far ahead and something like Project Tango is already helping it move ahead. The ability of these cameras to map out 3D terrain will be quite helpful for the artificial intelligence in the cars to navigate around the roads in the city. While the perfect autonomous technology is still yet to arrive, Project Tango can be integrated in a lot of products around the world.

One such example would that be of a drone, consumer or military which would use Project Tango to map out the entire terrain alone without having to get a constant signal from the GPS. GPS technology works with satellites and there's moment when that doesn't work so well so a 3D model of the terrain ahead will be quite helpful. The aviation industry will also benefit from this move to a more advanced mapping system.

The formation of Google's parent company Alphabet has seen a lot of changes to and from the search engine giant. The company's Google Maps are hailed as one of the best apps out there. With Project Tango, the street view program will also expand substantially as the company will be able to now map out entire stadiums, supermarkets, and other places. It seems that current CEO Sundar Pichai's work is fast gaining traction.

Google Nexus 8 tablet could be in the works after all

We've been inundated with leaks and rumours about new Nexus phones, but it's been quiet on the tablet front so far.

Fortunately, that trend has seemingly been cut short thanks to a new leak that suggests Google is working on a new Nexus tablet after all.

A mysterious device has apparently turned up on Geekbench3, one of the most popular smartphone benchmarking software services. The readout was first spotted by Mobipicker.

What's interesting is that it's actually not so mysterious after all – the device is conspicuously named as "Nexus 8".

That's not a device that currently exists amongst Google's Nexus arsenal, but the moniker does fit with the company's naming convention.

What's more, last year we heard rumours that Google was working on a Nexus 8 tablet. Instead, the company launched the tepidly-received Nexus 9.

This latest leak could be proof that a Nexus 8 tablet really does exist. But what will it look like?

Well the name is a dead giveaway for a start. As with previous Nexus devices, the Nexus 8 – if it exists – will land with an 8-inch (-ish) screen.

The benchmark readout also gives us some clues as to what we can expect from the device.

For instance, it's listed as using an octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Unfortunately, we don't know which exact chip features.

The device is also seemingly running on Android 5.1.1, however we'd say it's far more likely that a new Nexus tablet will actually ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

That's Google's upcoming update to its mobile operating system, expected to debut on new Nexus devices this autumn.

Related: Best Tablet 2015

There's little else we can extract from this latest leak, so we'll just have to wait for an official unveiling from Google.

If the Nexus 8 does exist, it's likely to land alongside the long-rumoured LG Nexus 5 (2015) and Huawei Nexus 6 (2015).

Would you like to see an 8-inch tablet from Google? Tell us why in the comments.

Samsung reveals the Galaxy Tab S2. Rappler Twitter image. Aug. , 2015.

Samsung is in the never-ending business of giving people a variety of tablets to choose from. This year, the tech giant has released a couple of tablets already including the Galaxy Tab E, Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab S2. But it doesn't stop there. According to a leak, Samsung is in the works of bringing to a life a giant 18.4-inch Android tablet with the codename "Tahoe." The rumor turned out to be true, as noted in SamMobile.

The site mentioned that the company is aiming to deliver a huge Android-based tablet that could be utilized in everyday life. The mega-tablet named SM-T670 is rumored to feature a TFT LCD with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution spread out over its 18.4-inch display expanse. It is also reported to have an octa-core 64-bit 1.6 GHz Exynos 7580 processor along with a 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

It will support MicroSD cards with a storage capacity up to 128 GB. Aside from that, the giganti-sized tablet will carry a 5,700 mAh battery which will make the device a powerful one in terms of battery lifespan. The Tahoe will be able to provide presentable photos through its 8 mega-pixel primary camera and 2.1 mega-pixel selfie snapper in the front. The device is reported to be 451.8 mm wide, 275.8 mm tall and 11.9 mm thick, running with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system upon its release.

The Samsung Tahoe will be competing with Panasonic's giant Toughpad, a 20-inch 4K tablet that is almost three times the size of Google's Nexus 7 and runs Windows software. Bidness ETC noted that the Samsung mega tablet does not have an official name yet, which means that the company will most likely not retain its present name "Tahoe." There are also no details yet as to when it will be released but with IFA approaching, fans are wondering if it will be revealed there.

Is Samsung’s 18.4-inch 'Tahoe' Android tablet a size too far?

Just when we thought tablets had become all they could be, a leak suggests Samsung wants to shake things up.

A giant 18.4-inch Android tablet codenamed Tahoe has leaked from Samsung, according to SamMobile.

The mega-tablet, named SM-T670, will apparently feature a TFT LCD with 1920 x 1080 resolution spread out over its 18.4-inch display expanse. This will be powered by a 5,700mAh battery making it mobile, presumably for around the home or office.

The Tahoe should be powered by a 1.6GHz 64-bit Exynos 7580 processor backed by 2GB of RAM. There should also be 32GB storage plus microSD that supports up to 128GB cards. It will reportedly run Android 5.1 Lollipop on release.

The tablet should come with two cameras, an 8-megapixel shooter in the rear with a 2.1-megapixel selfie snapper in the front.

Dimensions of the Tahoe tablet are 451.8 x 275.8 x 11.9 mm. At least this could double as an exercise source as it gets moved about the house.

The leaked tablet has no official name or release date attached to it yet. With IFA just around the corner, could we see this make an appearance there? Those lower-end specs would need to be released soon to be attractive, so an IFA release could be possible.

Panasonic currently has a 20-inch Toughpad tablet, photographed above. This is strong, stylus compatible and features a 4K screen.

Apple Inc. 12.9-Inch iPad Pro To Feature Sharp Displays Upon Release

According to a report by Taiwanese publication Digitimes, focused on the supply sector, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will almost certainly feature displays from Sharp for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. On the other hand, Samsung Elect Ltd (F) (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) and TPK will be recruited as secondary suppliers, whereas LG Display Co Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:LPL) will not be involved when the tablet enters mass production and rolls out in November or early 2016.

The report concluded that long term Apple supplier Foxconn, validated Sharp in light of its close cooperation with the display-maker. Sharp will produce the Open Cell LCD display for the upcoming iPad, whereas GIS, which is a Foxconn production-arm, will provide touch modules for the next-gen device.

Tech Times also suggested Sharp had been providing Apple with test displays, which matched the Cupertino company's product standards. Samsung is going to begin mass production of display panels in September, which means the first roll out of the iPad Pro might not sport Samsung displays and LCD assemblies.

The news surfaced after several claims the iPad Pro had a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels and a pixel density of 264 ppi, which is quite good for a "work tool". The device is said to run an optimized version of iOS 9 with split-screen view, Quick Type functions and new gesture-based controls. The company is also said to have included Force Touch to offer greater levels of interaction with the tablet, and may even feature a stylus to make multitasking more effective.

Apple is hoping the iPad Pro can reverse the sales decline plaguing the segment for six consecutive quarters. The company is hoping the announcement of the tablet this quarter can take shipments to 5 million for the year. Apple Pay could invariably help improve iPad sales too, as it continues to gain traction and expand its retail partner base. Moreover, a revamped form-factor could help improve profitability for the high-end device.

Bloomberg reported in March that the iPad Pro was facing delays due to problems in the supply of display panels. Apple shares are down 1% to $114 in early-day trading today.

Vaio is returning to the United States, starting with a powerful tablet

Vaio computers will once again be sold in the United States, with the newly-independent company announcing that they're bringing a powerful tablet to the States in October of this year.

You might remember Vaio as Sony's main PC brand, operating as a subsidiary of the company from 1996 to its sale in early 2014. Vaio is now owned by investment firm Japan Industrial Partners, and while the new owners initially focused solely on the Japanese market, Vaio wants to sell their products across the globe once again.

According to Vaio chief executive Yoshimi Ota, speaking to The Wall Street Journal, the reason why the company was so unprofitable under Sony was a focus on market share. The new Vaio doesn't want to repeat the mistakes of its predecessor, which is why we won't be seeing any cheap or unprofitable devices released under the Vaio brand.

The first new device Vaio will release in the United States is the Canvas Z, a "monster tablet" with a 12.3-inch 2,560 x 1,704 display, an Intel Core i7-4770HQ processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD. The tablet comes with a built-in kickstand, a stylus, and a detachable keyboard, making it similar to Microsoft's Surface Pro 3.

The Vaio Canvas Z will go on sale starting at $2,199 on October 5th, although pre-orders will be available from the middle of September. Vaio is also planning to re-enter the Brazilian market, although no products, prices or launch dates have been confirmed.

In the future, Vaio wants to branch out into a whole range of different product categories, including wearables, communication devices, factory machines, and even consumer entertainment robots. The company may have a hard time re-capturing their market share in the United States, but they could have some success in these other areas down the line.

Apple iPad Faces Mature Tablet Market

The recent release of the Apple Watch raises the question of whether Apple (and other device manufacturers) has run out of profitable options for new device types. Barring some fundamental new feature (holographic, 3D or virtual-reality displays), devices like tablets, smartphones and smartwatches will at base remain the same thing: a computer with a built-in display. The difference is primarily size (and thus room for computing power): a tablet is more or less a downsized notebook PC, a smartphone is a pocket-size tablet and a smartwatch is a wearable smartphone. Of course, each step down the size ladder removes features and processing power, and it reduces screen size, limiting the potential for productivity.

In addition, slowing progress in each device category (thanks in part to a slowing Moore's Law) means consumers see less of an incentive to upgrade. Galen Gruman notes at InfoWorld, "Tablets, especially iPads, are like laptops in that models perform adequately for years. The truth is that a nearly four-year-old third-generation iPad is still a perfectly good iPad, and the advantages of the newer generations (speed, weight, and Touch ID) are simply not enough to justify spending $500 to $1,000." The same phenomenon now plagues PCs, leading to declining sales (thanks also to availability of mobile devices). Gruman adds, "Across the board, tablets are in a replacement-market phase, and that will tamp down the demand for the foreseeable future."

Adding new tablet models, such as the rumored but unconfirmed "iPad Pro," would likely have little effect on the market beyond, perhaps, shuffling some share among existing consumers. Gruman said, "Maybe there will be an 'iPad Pro' and it will do something unexpected and compelling that will create a new niche in the mobile world, in the way Apple is trying to do with the Apple Watch….But I wouldn't count on it." A revolutionary new device must serve a consumer need rather than just attempting to manufacture it; meeting that challenge may require a new company with fresh insights—assuming it is even feasible.

iPad Air 3 Release Rumors: What We Know So Far

It's getting closer and closer to fall time, which means we're closer and closer to new iPads releasing. Here's what we know so far about the iPad Air 3 release and iPad Air 3 rumors.

Like every year for the last couple of years, Apple is expected to announced new iPads in the fall, most notably the iPad Air 3 and the iPad mini 4, both of which are expected to receive generous improvements, especially the iPad mini 4 since it didn't get a lot of attention the last time up.

The iPad mini 3 only received Touch ID capabilities as well as a gold color option, leaving everything else untouched, including the processor, graphics, memory, etc., which made for a disappointing refresh of the smaller tablet.

The iPad Air 3, however, is a rumored tablet that hasn't gotten much attention as far as the rumor mill is concerned, and it could be because the full-size tablet probably won't receive a huge overhaul of any kind like the iPad mini 4 will.

However, here's what we know so far about the iPad Air 3 and what rumors say about the upcoming tablet.

Better Performance

This one's a no doubter, just like with every new iPad that Apple announces. The iPad Air 3 will receive a performance boost, most likely with an upgrade to an A9 processor instead of the A8X and most likely sticking with 2GB of memory.

iPad Air 2 iOS 8.3 Review - 1

Of course, it probably won't be a huge performance upgrade from the iPad Air 2, as it usually never is, but a faster processor never hurts and if you're in the market for a new iPad, grabbing the iPad Air 3 will be the best option at that point.

Improved Camera

If it's better photos that you're after, the iPad Air 3 might just have the best camera yet in an iPad, as Apple tends to upgrade this department with every new product refresh.

The iPad Air 2 camera is better than the iPad Air.The iPad Air 2 camera is better than the iPad Air.

Currently, the iPad Air 2 can take some pretty impressive photos and can even record 1080p HD video, as well as 720p video with the front-facing FaceTime camera. Of course, there might not be a huge difference between the iPad Air 3 and the iPad Air 2, but Apple will hopefully make enough improvements to the cameras that users will notice.

So if taking photos with your iPad is an important feature for you, there's no problem with waiting for the new tablet to release.

Other Features

The iPad Air 3 will most likely keep the same design as the iPad Air 2, which isn't too surprising, but there could be a couple of more features added to the new tablet.

Top Apple Products for 2015 - iPad Air 3

Perhaps the biggest rumored feature is the possibility of stylus support for the iPad Air 3. The original rumor pointed to the iPad Pro and how it could get its own stylus that could also work on other iPads.

The stylus would be built specifically for the iPad and iOS instead of just a generic stylus, coming with hover technology that would allow you to all sorts of things that a normal stylus wouldn't be able to do. Our fingers are crossed with this one, but who knows what Apple has up its sleeves at this point.

Release Date

The iPad Air 3 currently doesn't have a set release date yet, and we probably won't officially find out until the fall when Apple holds their annual iPad event in October. However, there are a couple of interesting reports that have come up recently regarding the release of new iPads.

iPad Air 3 iPad mini 4 - Exciting Tech 2015

According to DigiTimes, the iPad Air 3 won't release until next year, which means that Apple could skip the release of the new tablet by a year, but still introduce the iPad mini 4 as usual. Furthermore, BuzzFeed has reported that Apple could announce a new iPad during the iPhone event next month, which is said to take place on September 9.

If both of these rumors are true, it would mean that the iPad mini 4 would be announced next month instead of October, and then the iPad Air 3 wouldn't release until next year. That all seems uncharacteristic of Apple, so we're taking this with a grain of salt, but it wouldn't be the first time that Apple has changed things up.

Apple release rumor: No iPad 3 in upcoming lineup

Apple.com

It seems that Apple fans will have to wait a little longer before getting their hands on a new and upgraded version of the iPad.

According to recent reports by Apple observer sites, particularly Apple Insider, although Apple may indeed launch its new iPhones in an upcoming fall schedule, fans who are waiting for an update for their tablet products will more than likely see a new iPad mini rather than the rumored iPad Air 3. Citing Chinese site DigiTimes, the website claims that tablet hardware and supply chains are exploring other tech ventures such as smartphones and wearables due to Apple, presumably their biggest customer for tablet-related supplies, getting conservative on its tablet outlook.

According to DigiTimes, their sources indicate that with Apple turning conservative about its tablet production line, the company will be shelving development of a successor to the iPad Air lineup. Instead, it will be releasing its fourth-gen iPad mini. Since the upcoming mini product has more in common with its predecessor, developing the new mini with the same components and hardware resources as the third-gen one will be to Apple's best interests.

The report by DigiTimes corroborates an earlier claim by another publication, Economic Daily News, which stated that Apple will be foregoing the iPad Air 3 in favor of the smaller iPad mini 4 and a larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

However, speculations still place an iPad Air 3 launch this year, in line with Apple's rollout of other flagship devices for its lineup. Having a new iPad will snag Apple some percentage of the competitor's market, with other notable tablets already out. Moreover, having an upgraded iPad Air 3 will also showcase the new iOS 9, another Apple innovation rumored to be released later this year.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Release Date Set in October

Surface Pro 4 ReleaseAs $150 discounts start appearing for Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 we're starting to think that the Surface Pro 4 tablet could have a release date of October. It's also worth noting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 model has been taken off the Microsoft Store list, which means they're probably going to discourage sales for the Surface Pro 3 in favour of the new product.

The Surface Pro 3 currently features a Core i7 chipset with 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and according to a Microsoft executive, the device was taken off the store because they couldn't handle the demand for it but the real reason is probably related to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. If they aimed the production process towards the new tablet then they wouldn't be able to keep producing the Surface Pro 3 which is probably the reason why it was taken off the store. Also, with the launch of the SurfacePro 4 we expect the Redmond giant to unveil the Microsoft Band 2 as the next-generation fitness band and we could also see a new Windows 10 flagship device like the Lumia 950 or the Lumia 950 XL  for instance.

Windows 10 Installed On 14 Million Devices

Microsoft Windows 10According to the latest statistics we know that Windows 10 has so far been installed on 14 million tablets. This number will continue rising as customers will get their hands on the upcoming Surface Pro 4 which should run the OS brilliantly.  We expect a lot from the upcoming Surface Pro 4 tablet but we can expect a very steep pricing just like the Surface Pro 3.

Make sure you're going to the Surface Pro 4 unveiling during October and be free to leave your thoughts on the upcoming tablet. Do you think that the fact Microsoft pulled the Surface Pro 3 from its store is a sign that they're going to unveil the next-generation device? Let us know.

Surface Pro 4 Release Date October 4 With New Microsoft Design, Huge Skylake Specs? [RUMOR]

(Photo : Microsoft/Facebook) Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 could be on the horizon if new rumors are any indication. In fact, speculation says that the tablet could arrive in October with a fresh design and heavily improved specs. An official announcement of the new tablet model has not happened yet.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 has been tipped for an October release date by another Windows analyst. Sources also tease a major spec upgrade and possible new design.

The news comes to Design & Trend via a litany of recent tweets from The Verge's senior editor, Tom Warren. In addition to working at that tech publication, he's also the founder of WinRumors. As such, the man is likely to have a few inside sources at Microsoft.

Like has been teased by other analysts before him, Warren agrees that the Surface Pro 4 will likely arrive in October of this year. In fact, he goes one step further to say that Oct. 4 could be the exact day that a reveal, and possible release, might occur. It's almost certain that the tablet will headline Microsoft's recent push for Windows 10. Could the 10-4 Oct. 4 date digits signal news of a Windows 10-enabled Surface Pro 4? It's an open possibility.

Where Warren diverges from his contemporaries, however, is in regards to the Surface Pro 4's design. While previous reports suggested a nearly identical form factor to its precursor, Tom says "it won't look exactly the same." He also hints at a "bigger display [and] thinner, lighter" components still being part of the equation. As Microsoft promised to business consumers, the new design aesthetic will still work with previous Surface Pro 3 accessories.

Alongside this new look, its specs are also said to be a major upgrade. When asked if a buyer would regret purchasing a Surface Pro 3 now, his sources said they would. The improvements of the fourth iteration "are not just incremental" apparently. Warren didn't delve too much into specifics, but he strongly believes that the long rumored Skylake CPU seems like a likely addition. As for what will be excluded, he doesn't see the new USB Type-C standard finding its way to the device.

In that case, like most devices of today, the Surface Pro 4's specs will likely feature a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port for file transfers.

It's important to note that Warren doesn't list any specific sources for the details that he's teased. That means everything mentioned here should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Until an announcement is made, anything about this tablet must be considered a rumor.

What would you like to see in the Surface Pro 4's new design and beefy specs? Do you have faith in Tom's rumors? Tell us your thoughts in the poll and comments section!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 live stream allows you to watch the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus announcement on your phone, tablet or laptop.

Samsung is in New York City to announce a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, but don't expect much else from the company at this very focused event.

Update: Added Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Live Stream on YouTube.

Arriving earlier than normal, signs point to fast Galaxy Note 5 pre-orders as Samsung works to beat the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to market. Be sure to check out what you need to know if you plan to trade in your old phone to buy a Galaxy Note 5.

How and where to watch the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 live stream. How and where to watch the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 live stream.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 live stream is available on YouTube so you can watch on almost any device that connects to the Internet.

Samsung just shared the Galaxy Note 5 live stream link on YouTube, which you can watch below to see the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus event. When the event is live you can watch a YouTube video below or go to Samsung using this link to watch the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event.

We expect to see a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with a huge 5.7-inch Quad HD display, 4GB RAM, blazing fast octo-core processor and a 16MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front-facing camera. Signs point to a large 3,000mAh battery and to three storage sizes.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 10 Things Buyers Can Count On

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Soon Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Soon

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is confirmed for August 13th but the Galaxy Note 5 release date is still shrouded in mystery as we approach the device's highly anticipated launch.

As we noted over the weekend, we're expecting the Galaxy Note 5 release date to land a few days after the announcement for a few reasons which include the iPhone 6s release date.

You can count on a Galaxy Note 5 release date in August but you shouldn't expect every single region and every single carrier to get the Galaxy Note 5 on the first day.

Count on a widespread global Galaxy Note 5 release but know that these things take time. Not even Apple is able to get the iPhone out to everyone all at once. The supply chain has its limitations.

You can count on big markets like South Korea, Japan and the United States being among the first to get the device. And with Samsung (and its partners) clearly trying to get this phone out before the iPhone 6s, you can count on a ton of release dates taking place before September 9th.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Reportedly To Get 4K Display, USB Type-C And Skylake Processor

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

A lot of buzz is surrounding the imminent release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. With no official announcement from Microsoft, however, the intrawebs are left to speculate what could be expected in the new addition to the Surface family quite possibly coming out as soon as October.

According to some reports, most notably from The Verge's Tom Warren, the new MS Surface Pro 4 is expected to come with Skylake on board and have the first major Windows 10 upgrade.

He is so excited about the new Surface Pro 4 that he even encourages one of his Twitter followers to cancel his order for a new Surface Pro 3 and wait for the 4.

What exactly does Microsoft have in store that has everyone all worked up? If rumors prove to be true, the Surface Pro 4 is going to be one heavy hitter in the tablet market.

Among the speculated features, the MS Surface Pro 4 is said to come in 12-inch and 14-inch variants. The high-end variant of the tablet will reportedly cost around $1,300 and boast a 4K resolution screen and 16 GB of RAM.

(Photo : Spencer Platt | Getty Images)

The base model isn't expected to be too shabby either. Set to retail at around $500, it is expected to be a great starter tablet with 4 GB of RAM, 8,600 mAh of battery juice, Type-C USB ports and an HDMI port thrown in "just for kicks," claim reports.

That's not bad, considering its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3, is powered by fourth-generation Intel Core processors and only have USB 3.0 for its ports.

Get ready for October when the Surface Pro 4 is said to be making its grand debut.

T-Mobile to soon release the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 LTE

Galaxy Tab A 8.0

T-Mobile's support page has revealed the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 LTE, suggesting that an official release is right around the corner. Interestingly, the carrier is yet to confirm the release of the tablet, but posting a support document on the site is usually a good indicator of things to come.

For those not in the loop, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is Samsung's midrange budget tablet meant for the masses. It features an 8 inch 1024 x 768 resolution display, a quad core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 4,200 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 - TMobile

T-Mobile's support page has the LTE version listed, so expect this to be slightly more expensive compared to the WiFi models that are currently selling online. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 WiFi is priced at nearly $180 right now, so T-Mobile could ask for somewhere around $200 for this variant. The launch should take place pretty soon as the support page has already gone live.

Samsung to release Galaxy Note Tablet along with Note 5 at the Unpacked Event

New York – Samsung is probably working on releasing new Galaxy Note tablet at upcoming Unpacked event, according to a new teaser on Samsung's website. Samsung Philippines website has a countdown timer to the event, and also an image showing three devices stacked on top of each other. According to what is known so far, Samsung is planning to introduce the Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

It can be seen in the image that the first device is the Galaxy S6 Edge+ with its curved display, and then the second device is the Galaxy Note 5 with its curved back like the S6 Edge and its S-Pen coming out from the side. Now if we talk about the device beneath the Note 5, which is relatively bigger, it can be said that Samsung is probably hiding a tablet under their sleeves as well.

galaxy-note-5-2

If we go further in detail, Samsung says on the website that, "We were the first to make them BIG. Now, we're making BIG even BETTER. Are You Ready To Live BIG?". As 'Live BIG' is the punchline here, Samsung is trying to say that there might be something bigger at the event as well, like a tablet.

Anyway, there is no solid information available regarding the tablet, so we hope that Samsung will surprise us at the Unpacked Event on August 13. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is one of the most anticipated devices of the year, and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be another addition in Samsung's curved-display family.

Do you also think that the upcoming Samsung devices will be not just big, but also better as well? Share your thoughts with us.

Apple announces iPhone 6S Release Date, here’s the list of expected Features

Apple has officially sent media invites for an event happening on September 9, where it is most likely to unveil the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

As expected, the exterior of the iPhone 6S looks similar to that of the iPhone 6, which may be a disappointment to some, but not something that should come as a surprise to Apple users. The screen sizes for the 6S will be 4.7 and 5.5 inches, the same as last year's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. However, there are possible changes to the exterior of the new smartphone, including a new color option. There are also rumors that Apple use the aluminum designated for the Apple Watch on the next generation of iPhones, potentially giving the 6S stronger aluminum that is still lightweight.

iphone 6s leaked housing

Of course, the biggest changes on the iPhone 6S from last year's models will be on the inside. The biggest rumor is that the 6S will have "Force Touch" capabilities, which distinguishes between light and hard presses by the user. This feature was first introduced on the Apple Watch, and Apple has also included it on a pair of its Retina MacBooks, leading to speculation that its new iPhone will include it as well.

Camera improvements are also expected on the iPhone 6S. However, there are conflicting rumors about what those improvements will be. One rumor suggests a two-lens system that will make DSLR quality images possible, while other rumors indicate that Apple will instead simply upgrade from 8MP to 12MP. With Apple's acquisition of LinX Imaging, there may be no telling what improvements are possible on the camera's of new iPhones.

As for the release date of the iPhone 6S, September 9 will be day when Apple will unveil the next generation iPhone in a special media event. Apple has traditionally released its new smartphones in the middle of September, so this date makes the most sense, despite speculation that the release date could be moved up to sometime in August. However, with that being an unprecedented move by Apple, September 9 is a safe better for the new iPhone 6S.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Mini Also in the Works? Specs, Features, Release Date & Rumors Here!

By Staff Reporter (media@latinospost.com) | First Posted: Aug 08, 2015 11:02 AM EDT

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 23: Panos Panay, Microsoft's VP of Surface, introduces introduces a second generation of Surface tablets on September 23, 2013 in New York City. The new Surface family includes two products, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. Improvements on the tablets include better battery life, faster processors and Dolby Digital sound. The new devices will be in stores on Oct. 22. (Photo : Spencer Platt/Getty Images)

The tablet that can replace your laptop is having its fourth version.

Surface Pro 4, the latest form of Microsoft's high-end hybrid laptop tablet commonly tagged as "laplet" is reportedly in the making and is rumored to be looking for an October 2015 release date, PPP Focus has learned.

Like Us on Facebook

According to the report, the Surface Pro 4 will see a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3, which was released over a year ago. Surface Pro 4 is said to be powered by Windows 10 with an i5 or i7 Intel Core processors and an internal storage that will range from 64 GB to 256 GB. Moreover, it was also rumored to have a watch-type hinge that removes the need for a cover or stand.

Tech Radar noted earlier that the device is expected to come with Intel's Core M 'Broadwell' CPU together with a design that has small holes in the casing, allowing heat radiation and dissipation while at the same time making it thinner with less noise than the Surface Pro 3 while still maintaining the 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution display.

Furthermore, Tech Radar also cited that the new form of Surface Pro may come with new accessories especially with Microsoft's acquisition of N-Trig, a company headquartered in Israel who is behind the tablet's pressure-sensitive stylus. This makes sense with the current news that the stylus for Surface Pro 4 has been made as an additional accessory and can be purchased separately.

The biggest news, however, according to PPP Focus, is that the Surface Pro 4 will be cheaper than the previous Surface Pro series while also having a longer battery life of approximately five to seven hours, faster than its predecessor. Not to mention that will also provide all the benefits of a tablet.

PPP Focus also adds that Microsoft's possible flagship device is in talks of having a 10-inch and 13-inch variant available boost with improved graphic drivers.

Known for its lightness, sharp display and excellent handwriting capabilities as emphasized by Tech Radar, the Surface Pro series has seen substantial improvement in each of its version. Although there have been issues in battery life as well as concerns about it becoming uncomfortably warm under use, there are a lot of reasons to expect major improvements in the possible Surface Pro 4.

If Surface Pro 4 is released this October, then the tablet battle will surely be heated up. Apple has already released its new MacBook and Samsung is set to release its Galaxy Note 5. Will Microsoft give Apple and Samsung a run for their money? If the rumors are true, we shall find out soon.

iPad mini 4 release date, specs & features rumours: latest reports suggest a September launch

All of the latest rumours about the iPad mini 4 release date, specs and features in one place.

The iPad mini 3 is a brilliant tablet, but in terms of updates it was a bit of a dud, with just the fingerprint sensor and the gold colour option differentiating it from its predecessor, the iPad mini 2. That's why we think the iPad mini 4 could be a good 'un, with an impressive update that helps us forget all about our iPad mini 3 disappointment. Here's our round-up of all of the latest iPad mini 4 release date, specs & features rumours.

Read next: iPad Air 3 release date rumours and new features wishlist

iPad mini 4 release date: When is the new iPad mini coming out?

First things first, let's explore the potential release date for Apple's next 7.9in iPad. Looking back at Apple's release history for the iPad mini, we can see that it has stuck to the same pattern since it first launched in November 2012 after an October unveiling.

iPad mini: Unveiled 23 October released 2 November 2012iPad mini 2: Unveiled 22 October, released 12 November 2013iPad mini 3: Unveiled 16 October, released 24 October 2014

So it's for that reason that we expect an October unveiling for the iPad mini 4, followed by its release a week or two later.

Ahead of Apple's 9 March event, during which it finalised Apple Watch details and showed off an all-new super-slim MacBook, rumours suggested that we might see an iPad Pro launch at the event (and therefore, if rumours were to believed, an iPad mini 4 would also debut), but the event came and went with no mention of new iPads.

WWDC 2015 has also come and gone, where many thought that alongside our first glimpse at iOS 9 and the next version of OS X, we might see the announcement of the iPad mini 4.

It's actually possible that Apple will decide not to release a new iPad mini this year, though. The iPhone 6 Plus is Apple's first foray into the 'Phablet' market, with a 5.5in screen, which brings it much closer to the size of the iPad mini, which has a 7.9in display. There's bound to be some cannibalisation there, and it's possible that the reason for the disappointing iPad mini 3 update was to keep the attention focused on Apple's new iPhones rather than the mini iPad.

Japanese speaking Macotakara speculates about the release of the iPad mini 4, which it claims will be launched alongside the iPad Air 3 and the much-rumoured iPad Pro. The iPad Air 3 will reportedly be very similar in terms of design to the iPad Air 2, but will host Apple's latest (and yet unreleased) A9 processor.

Macotakara is usually a reliable source of Apple leaks, and while we won't dispute its design leaks (see below), we don't believe that Apple will release three new tablets in 2015. Why? Even though Apple may want to try and recover from its worst year for iPad sales since its launch, there isn't much evidence pointing towards a simultaneous launch this year.

Also, with rumours pointing towards the possibility of the iPad mini being announced at the iPhone event pegged for September, Apple won't have enough time to announce the next generation iPhone, iOS 9, watchOS 2, a new iPad mini, iPad Air and an iPad Pro at a single event. So, when is the iPad mini 4 going to be announced? We're looking at either a September or October event, in our opinion.

iPad mini 4 rumours: Design, specs & features

Back in November 2014, Japanese magazine Mac Fan suggested that the iPad mini 4 would boast the iPad Air 2's A8X processor, as well as a thinner design that is more reminiscent of the latest iPad Air.

Rumours that arrived a bit later on, in March 2015, suggested that the iPad mini 4 might actually come equipped with the A9 processor, expected to launch with new iPhones that are coming in September. (See: iPhone 6S rumours).

That same rumours said the iPad mini 4 will come with 2GB RAM, 802.11ac WiFi.

Fast forward to August 2015 and the latest reports from Japanese site Macotakara suggest that the upcoming iPad mini 4 will be thinner than its previous generation. In fact, the site claims that the iPad mini 4 will adopt the same level of thickness as the iPad Air, which measures 6.1mm, compared to the 7.5mm thickness of the current iPad mini line-up.

As well as thinning down the iPad mini, Apple has other plans to make the iPad more comfortable to use than previous iterations. The new iPad mini 4 is rumoured to inherit the iPad Air 2's laminated display and antireflective coating, which should provide users with a much more enjoyable experience when using the tablet outdoors and in bright conditions.

As well as a lightweight form factor, the iPad mini 4 is also set to inherit other features of the iPad Air 2, namely its 8Mp iSight camera and its A8 processor. If true, it'll be a step up from the iPad mini 3, which only offers a 5Mp iSight camera and an A7 chip, the same chip that's found in an (almost) 2-year-old iPhone 5S.

However, that's not all. There are also leaked images, courtesy of onLeaks, that seems to depict an iPad mini 4 bumper case. The pictures were originally posted on Twitter, but have since been removed.

The pictures hint at a slimmer iPad mini with the same design as the iPad Air 2, but these images should be taken with a pinch of salt. Manufacturers will often prepare cases for unreleased products based on leaks to get a head start on its competitors if the leaks turn out to be true.

It's also speculated that Apple will discontinue two of the currently available iPad mini models when the iPad mini 4 arrives: the original iPad mini and the iPad mini 3, keeping only the iPad mini 2 on as a more affordable option. This seems perfectly feasible to us, as the iPad 2 stayed on for several years despite the removal of some of its successors from the line-up.

We'll continue to update this article as more iPad mini 4 rumours emerge, so check back regularly for the latest information.

Surface Pro 4: Why A 2015 Release For Microsoft's Rumored Surface Pro 3 Successor Seems Likely

(Photo : Microsoft/Facebook) Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 might release this fall, and Design & Trend has revealed five reasons for why it's possible. Rumors are on the rise, and competition is high with Windows 10's arrival on the market. Those that can't wait for it can purchase a Surface Pro 3 now for a reduced price.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 is one of the most elusive yet talked about tablets around. With the recent arrival of Windows 10, many tech enthusiasts believe that a Surface Pro 3 successor might debut later this year. Here are five reasons why we think the Surface Pro 4 will release in 2015.

1) The Release Of Windows 10

Windows 10 was released to the public on July 29 as a free upgrade for all devices running Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Even though older Surface models like the Surface Pro 3 can run the operating system just fine, wouldn't it make sense for Microsoft to release a flagship product that really drives its latest software innovations home?

For example, the Surface Pro 3 isn't compatible with Windows 10's facial recognition feature called Windows Hello. This lack of support feels incomplete, but it can be fixed by putting out a product that has the feature built in. A Surface Pro 4 could fit that bill.

2) The Recent Spike In Rumors

Maybe the arrival of Windows 10 spurred this on, but, over the past few weeks especially, we've seen a huge spike in rumors about Microsoft's next tablet. While the information may not be completely accurate, usually such growing speculation means something in the tech world. The more rumors we hear, the more a 2015 Surface Pro 4 release seems possible.

On that front, three major reports headline the push. Business Korea magazine tipped us off that Microsoft was in the process of ordering a large number of super fast Samsung SSDs. Digitimes even suggested Surface Pro 4 fall 2015 shipment amounts from its "upstream supply chain sources." Most recently, Windows expert Paul Thurrott expressed October release thoughts despite saying otherwise a few weeks prior. Something had to make this aficionado change his tune, and the rise in speculation is it.

3) Get A Jump On That iPad Pro

The iPad Pro has been a rumored developing Apple tablet for quite some time, and recent speculation suggests that it could release as early as mid-November. While nothing has been confirmed at this time, most analysts agree that the product will tout a 12.9-inch high resolution display with force touch capabilities similar to the Apple Watch.

These days, Microsoft's Surface line has become an increasingly powerful competitor to Apple's iPad business. Because of this, the Redmond company needs to release a product of its own if it hopes to go toe to toe with Cupertino's upcoming iPad. Recent rumors claim that a Surface Pro 4 would ship in October. That gives Microsoft a perfect little window to breathe before mighty Apple steps in with a formidable adversary.

4) The Surface Pro 3 Is Getting Old

It's not like the Surface Pro 3 is an ancient product, but it has been on the market for over a year. With companies like Apple constantly releasing new tablet iterations, it's been a suspiciously long wait for the Surface Pro 4 to lead the push from Microsoft's corner. After all, previous iterations of the Surface had only been available for about eight months before a new model was shipped. In that sense, the Surface Pro 4 is long overdue.

Especially if its projected release date isn't until Oct. 2015, that Surface Pro 3 hardware will really start to feel long in the tooth by then. Simply put, it's just time for Microsoft to put something else out.

5) The Rise In Surface Pro 3 Sales

The nail in the coffin for an imminent Surface Pro 4 release is that its predecessor has become quite cheep in recent months. Depending on where a shopper looks, it's not uncommon to save hundreds of dollars when purchasing a Surface Pro 3 or compatible accessories.

In the tech world, falling prices typically equate to a manufacturer's need to sell surplus stock of old products before something new is released. When combined with the previously mentioned rumors and threats from other sides of the industry, it seems likely that such liquidation might be what Microsoft is going through right now. Those that don't mind older hardware can get a Surface Pro 3 for less. Its next iteration likely won't be as kind on the wallet.

Do you think a Surface Pro 4 release in 2015 seems likely? Can the Surface Pro 3 keep going into next year? Tell us your thoughts in the poll and comments section!

Trim Tab to launch canned beers this fall: 'It's a game changer'

Birmingham's newest operating brewery is getting ready to launch its first ever canned beers.

Trim Tab Brewing Co., which opened its tasting room early last year, is working to launch its India Pale Ale in cans this fall, aiming for an October release date, founder and managing partner Harris Stewart said.

"The draft is really where people can build a relationship with your brand," Stewart said. "The off-premise world is really, really exciting, because that's where people are home, or at the beach or at the pool, and will bring it into their private lives and continue to build that relationship."

Trim Tab is releasing the IPA first because it's the top-selling beer over time, Stewart said. But it's fitting, he said, because Trim Tab's brand is based on the concept of balance - a "trim tab" is part of a boat that stabilizes it.

"Our IPA is our only beer brand we have that bears our name," Stewart said. "It really represents our balance - it's a very hoppy style as an IPA, but it can still be balanced."

Six to nine months after the IPA's release, Trim Tab hopes to release a second beer in cans. It'll probably be the Pillar to Post Rye Brown, but the Raspberry Berliner Weisse is "destroying company records in terms of sales," Stewart said, so the company will reevaluate which beer to release in the future.

The decision to can rather than bottle follows Trim Tab's canning predecessors, including Good People Brewing Company, Avondale Brewing and Cahaba Brewing.

"For us it's all about the triple bottom line: better for the consumer, better for the product, and better for the environment," Stewart said. "At the end of the day, when have those three things, there's not much of a decision to make."

Trim Tab is collaborating with Big Communications on the can design. Supreme Beverage Company will distribute Trim Tab's beers to retailers.

The canning begins in the midst of a massive expansion for Trim Tab, where the brewer will eventually double its capacity. Off premise sales offer massive revenue opportunities, Stewart said.

"This is a game changer. People's rate of purchase in the off-premise world is much larger," Stewart said. "It cannot be overstated how excited we are."

Last month, a Nielsen report said Birmingham's craft beer sales as a percentage of total beer volume grew 63.1 percent from June 2014 to June 2015, more than any other metro area in the country.

"Birmingham is a very unique place on many different levels, but the support for craft beer coupled with the population that's falling in love with the city again has created the perfect storm for craft beer to explode, and we are really, really excited to be a part of it," Stewart said.

Adidas Lillard 1 'Lumberjack' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Adidas Lillard 1 'Lumberjack' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Ben Margot/Associated Press

Damian Lillard's latest shoe in his D Lillard 1 line for Adidas is about to drop on August 7 at $105, according to SoleCollector.com. This latest version will be the "Lumberjack" edition.

Along with the brown and red overlay, the shoe has a number of unique features, according to Brandon Richard of SoleCollector.com:

Other features include metal rivets and D-ring eyelets, a leather heel overlay, speckled midsole and black rubber outsole. The area code 503 is printed on the heel pull-tab, presumably making this shoe a nod to Portland and its lumberjack heritage, though that hasn't been confirmed.

SneakerFiles.com passed along an image of the new shoe on Twitter:

The shoe certainly has a distinct, unique style, and both the colorway and the hints of plaid that sneak into the sneaker give it a more rustic feel while remaining a sleek and fresh design. With so many different brands and editions of those brands on the market, delivering something truly unique isn't the easiest of tasks.

This shoe certainly pulls off that feat.

Lillard, meanwhile, might feel like a lumberjack took an ax to his team this offseason. Gone are LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum, while Mason Plumlee and Noah Vonleh lead a whole new cast of players who were brought aboard this offseason.

Just as lumberjacks ideally plant a tree where they've chopped one down, the Portland Trail Blazers will be hoping that they have adequately replaced the impact players they lost this offseason.

After all, Lillard doesn't want to end up like Bobby Butter.

It's doubtful Butter would be able to rock the "Lumberjack," but fans of Lillard and his shoes who want a unique spin on the style should enjoy these kicks immensely. The "Lumberjack" is absolutely one of the premier designs set to drop in August and is worth checking out, especially given the limited release.

Has the tablet gone the way of the moon rock?

<p>Don't look now but the tablet craze is slowly becoming a passing phase.</p><p>The global tablet market declined 7 percent year-over-year for the second quarter of 2015, according to data compiled by the International Data Corporation Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker. The latest numbers continue a negative slide going back to 2014 and spell bad news for device makers who just years earlier saw tablets as the next bastion for growth.</p><p>I am probably just as good of a guinea pig as anybody else to analyze the state of the slate. My first reaction to the initial iPad in 2010 was "why?" Why do I need a big iPod Touch? It didn't do anything my smartphone couldn't do and I would have had to pay extra for data if I wanted it to truly be a mobile device. Of course I eventually fell victim to the lethal marketing arm of Apple. It's hard to sit lonely on the beach when all your friends are riding the popularity wave. It also doesn't hurt when you can t alk your boss into buying you one. Hey, there has to be some perks to this tech writing thing.</p><p>That iPad 2 is still sitting in my bag. I honestly take it out about five times a year and four of those are when my 12-year-old needs some backseat fodder for long car rides. The other instance is for the annual software updates to again see if there is some new reason to actively use it. Who needs something else to carry, another device to plug into our already packed receptacles?</p><p>The thing about having a seldom-used, $500 device gathering dust is you don't get excited about those annual product refreshes titled: "faster, thinner, lighter." I mean, if the new iPad cooked dinner, paid my bills and took care of my weekly call to mom, I might be interested, but four generations of iPads later and the most notable change is they made a smaller one. Next.</p><p>This leaves device makers in a quandary: How do you get consumers excited about a nnual upgrades? Smartphones take a beating because they live life on the run with us -- in the pocket, sliding across the dashboard and occasionally taking a tumble. Tablets stay cozy next to the couch or on the nightstand and hardly cry out for replacement.</p><p>Even Apple isn't immune to the slide. Despite selling 10.9 million iPads, no small feat, the company had an eye-opening 17.9 percent drop in sales and fell below 25 percent in market share. Apple certainly cannibalized tablet sales, particularly with iPad Mini, after introducing a phablet-sized iPhone last year. The rise of the mega phones presents a market conundrum for tablet sales and might be a reason Apple waited so long to supersize its smartphones. Only after the tablet market peaked did they release a 5.5-inch iPhone.</p><p>The question that remains to be seen is whether tablets are more than just a reading, gaming and browsing device or if they will be outfitted as viable productivity machi nes. Two-in-one hybrid devices have gathered steam but will need a boost from Windows 10 after a lackluster response to Windows 8. Apple promised iPad upgrades -- including multitasking capabilities -- but one has to wonder how far the company is willing to allow iPad sales to creep into its Mac lineup.</p><p>There's no reason to think the tablet era has come and gone, but it's looking increasingly like they're being defined as a niche market and not must-have devices like smartphones or laptops.</p>

iPad Pro Stylus Packed With Image Sensor & Haptic Simulation? Tablet Release Date, Specs & Price [Rumors]

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference Opens In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - JUNE 08: Apple Craig Federighi, Apple senior vice president of Software Engineering, speaks about the iPad during Apple WWDC on June 8, 2015 in San Francisco, California. Apple Inc. has been going the distance to upgrade its slew of products, especially because sales in the last few quarters haven't been stellar. To increase profits, it seems the company is pulling all the stops for the latest iPad Pro in order to change the way people view the stylus.

A new patent application called "Touch Implement with Haptic Feedback for Simulating Surface Texture," invented by Jason Lor, Patrick A. Carroll and Dustin J. Verhoeve for Apple was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office recently.

A part of the pattent application's abstract reads: "A touch implement may include one or more controllers coupled to one or more haptic devices and one or more sensors that detect when the touch implement contacts a surface. The controller may provide haptic feedback via the haptic device(s) to simulate a texture of the surface when the touch implement is in contact. In some cases the texture may correspond to a texture displayed on the surface whereas in other implementations the texture may be unrelated to the appearance of the surface. "

The International Business Times recalled a related patent application called the "Texture Capture Stylus and Method," which also features a stylus but it uses an image sensor to produce a photo that will then be displayed on the screen of a device.

Not much is known about the iPad Pro, however, CNet reported that it is due for an autumn release, possibly alongside the iPad Air 3 and the iPad Mini 4.

As for its design, Apple Insider thinks that the next iPad will feature the 12.9-inch touchscreen, which is significantly larger that the Mini 3 (7.9-inches) and the Air 2 (9.7 inches). For its operating system, CNet noted that the iPad Pro will work on iOS 9, the next major update for Apple's mobile operating systems.

Apple Insider added that the iPad Pro could come with a high-resolution screen: a 2,732 x 2048-pixel display that matched with the iPad Air 2. Apple may also incorporate the Force Touch, which could be the one that was recently published by the Patent and Trademark office.

Other features of the iPad Pro, according to Mac Rumors, is the possibility that it may include NFC, which makes it capable of working with Apple Pay. This can, in turn, be a payment terminal for small businesses.

There is no price tag attached to the iPad Pro at the moment, although Gotta Be Mobile reckons that it should cost slightly higher than the iPad Air 2, which starts at around $600.

These rumors, however, should be taken with a grain of salt. Until the company itself confirms the specs and features of their latest iPad model, all we can do is wait.
