After Japanese users began complaining about Sony's new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4 overheating, the launch of the Xperia Z4 Tablet has now been postponed as both the devices are powered by Qualcomm's beleaguered Snapdragon processor, which is reportedly causing the overheating issues.

Sony had announced the top of the line Xperia Z4 Android Tablet at the MWC 2015 in March this year and was originally scheduled to become available by the end of May in the UK, and arrive in the US as well as other key markets later. UK buyers have already pre-ordered the tablet and were promised that the Xperia Z4 Tabletwould be delivered in early June, which was pushed forward to mid-June. But now, Sony Mobile's regional online stores in the UK have listed June 29 as the date when deliveries are "expected" to begin.
Except for the Nexus 9, the upper tier, premium, feature-packed Sony Xperia Z4 Android Tablet has no competition in the high-profile high-end Android tablet market, which is saturated by low to mid selections. Samsung's super thin Galaxy Tab S2 is not expected to arrive until September, which would have given the Xperia Z4 Tablet a good headstart in the market. This makes the reason behind the continued delay in the release of Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet quite a mystery, though it is now being suspected that the latest complaints by Japanese users of the Xperia Z4 smartphone overheating could be the problem.
Both the Xperia Z4 smartphone and Xperia Z4 Tablet are powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 810 processor, which has recently been in the news for overheating. The Xperia Z4 smartphone, which was recently launched exclusively for Japan, became available for purchase this week with the country's mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo. However, Japanese users of the Xperia Z4 smartphone have already taken to Twitter and other online platforms to vent their frustration over their handsets heating up. In fact, NTT DoCoMo has received so many overheating complaints of the Xperia Z4 smartphone that it has slapped a warning label on the device, advising users to take precautions.
Sony is yet to officially acknowledge the overheating issue in the Xperia Z4 smartphone, though user complaints and NTT DOCOMO's official acknowledgement of the problem may have forced the company to hold back shipments of the Xperia Z4 Tablet until the problem is resolved.
