CNN Launches Custom app for the Galaxy View Tablet

This week, Samsung finally made the Galaxy View official. It's their 18.4-inch Android-powered Tablet. Now this tablet isn't your ordinary tablet, not just because of the weight and size, but it also has a custom UI, even more custom than Touchwiz on their other tablets. Samsung customized the UI to fit the much larger display. In some of the pictures that Samsung released with the announcement, you can see that there are much larger touch targets, and it almost reminds me of the UI that Roku uses on their players. And because of the customized software, we'll need some apps customized for the Galaxy View.

On Saturday, CNN launched the first custom app for the Galaxy View. Aptly named "CNN for Samsung Galaxy View". It's available on the Google Play Store right now, and as you'd expect, it is only compatible with the Galaxy View tablet. CNN's app uses a magazine style UI, more than likely to use up all of the extra space that is there on the Galaxy View screen. With the CNN app, you can watch all sorts of videos from CNN right there on your 18.4-inch tablet. With the app you can get alert notifications for breaking stories, Additionally, local news and weather are also included in the app. It's a great app for keeping up with the latest news and weather.

Currently, there is no official price or release date for the Samsung Galaxy View Tablet. We've seen pre-orders open up at a few retailers here in the US, giving it a price of $599. But that's still not 100% confirmed. However, it would seem to be around that price point. Samsung hasn't announced a release date yet, but it should hopefully be pretty soon. The Galaxy View tablet isn't quite a high-end tablet, especially with a 1920×1080 resolution display, but it's more of an experiment from Samsung. To see if people will actually buy it. Some of their most successful smartphones and tablets, came from experiments like this. The original Galaxy Note was an experiment for Samsung, and it turned into a huge market and has sold millions and millions since.

18.4-Inch Samsung Galaxy View Release Date Revealed; Monster Tablet Priced at $599

First Posted: Oct 30, 2015 11:43 AM EDT

Samsung's biggest tablet yet is arriving next month! Samsung Galaxy View's official release date has been revealed.

The upcoming Samsung tablet which has a massive widescreen display size of 18.4 inches is set for November 6 arrival. According to CNET, the Samsung Galaxy View comes with a price tag worth $599.

As for the Samsung Galaxy View's official release date and pricing in the United Kingdom and Australia, the report noted that details have not yet been confirmed.

The 2.64-kilogram heavy tablet, according to the post is aimed particularly for watching a video. Even though this is something doable on smaller tablets or even smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy View's whopping display size "will make movies and TV shows a lot more immersive," the post explained.

The Verge also noted that the Samsung Galaxy View made for video binging is "more TV than a tablet." It also features a custom home screen which is filled with various video applications such as Hulu, Youtube and Netflix.

When users swipe to the next screen, they will see the usual Android home screen. The report from The Verge also noted that the monster table supports side-by-side apps as well as other mobile features offered by Samsung like SideSync.

When it comes to Samsung Galaxy View's hardware specs, GSM Arena noted that it is equipped with Exynos 7580 chipset paired with an Octa-core processor Cortex-A53 clock at 1.6 GHz. Moreover, it sports the Mali-T720MP2 for the GPU.

It offers a 1080p x 1920p screen resolution with a pixel density of 120 ppi. Out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy View runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Accordingly, the battery can last for 8 hours for multimedia use.

For the storage, it offers 32 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM. But a micro SD card slot is available for storage expansion of up to 128 GB, the GSM Arena's specs list for the tablet also specified.

The primary camera has only 2.1 MP sensor. Unlike most Samsung's mobile devices, the Galaxy View does not have a secondary camera.

Being the biggest Android mobile device soon to be available on the market, the Samsung Galaxy View is expected to deliver "an unprecedented mobile entertainment experience by streaming video and media content," the post from Samsung Tomorrow read. A bliss for all the couch potato out there, this tablet "lets consumers seamlessly experience the best in video and media from a range of television and other service providers."

Samsung Unveils the Galaxy View Tablet, the Largest Android Mobile Device Ever

Samsung has lifted the lid on the Galaxy View, its huge 18.4-inch tablet that the company claims is the largest Android mobile device ever.

The device is a big (excuse the pun) addition to Samsung's line-up, with it set to occupy the same market as the similarly large iPad Pro. However, Apple's device has nothing on the supersized Galaxy View in terms of sheer scale, with it clocking in at 12.9 inches, almost 5 inches smaller than its competitor.

The Galaxy View was partially revealed in several leaks prior to Samsung's official reveal of the device, though now we know a lot more about it. Powered by Samsung's Exynos 7580 octa-core SoC, the device will boast 2GB RAM and storage options of either 32GB or 64GB. It will also feature a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera, the typical array of Internet connectivity options including 4G LTE support, and a sizeable 5,700mAh battery that offers up to 8 hours of continuous playback.

SamsungGalaxyView2

SamsungGalaxyView2

However, there's an unfortunate omission when it comes to the Galaxy View's display, and that is its underwhelming 1080p, full HD resolution. While this would be welcomed on smaller devices, on a screen this size a 4K display would have been ideal, though Samsung likely didn't opt to go down this route due to pricing issues.

At the time of this writing Samsung has yet to announce the price or the release date of the tablet, though we should expect to hear an announcement shortly. Depending upon how much this beast retails for, though, it looks to be a reasonably attractive purchase for those who consume a lot of media on the go, offering a large screen to access streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and the like.

Samsung’s 18.4-inch Galaxy View tablet is the portable, touchable TV you always wanted

The rumors were true — Samsung actually made a 18.4-inch tablet, and it's called the Galaxy View. The massive tablet could be considered more of a portable TV than an actual tablet, given its size and dimensions. Here are all the initial details that Samsung revealed in a press release on its blog.

The Galaxy View sports a huge 18.4-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Since it's meant to function like a TV that you bring from room to room in your home, it has a handle on the back and a built-in stand. The stand moves into two positions, one presumably for viewing on a table top and another for watching shows with the device on your lap or while in bed. Samsung popped in two 4-watt speakers to make the audio experience better than that of your average tablet.

It's powered by an unspecified 1.6GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM, which should be enough to power all your favorite video streaming apps. Samsung's offering the View with either 32 or 64GB of storage, though a MicroSD card slot should open up more space for video, if you're the kind of person who downloads instead of streaming. The 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera is presumably for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy View

Samsung claims that its 5,700mAh battery should keep the View running for 8 hours of continuous video streaming, which is great news for binge watchers. The whole tablet weighs 2.65 kg, which is lighter than you would expect for a tablet of such great proportions.

In the press release, Samsung vaguely mentions that the Galaxy View has a special interface and home screen where all your favorite video streaming apps live. One picture from the company shows a grid format with popular apps like Hulu, Netflix, History, YouTube, Crackle, and more. However, the device is actually running Android 5.1 Lollipop. Samsung further says that the Galaxy View is purely an entertainment device that's geared toward gameplay, video streaming, and other visual experiences.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced. We'll keep you updated here as more information becomes available.

Here's what Samsung's giant 18-inch super tablet looks like

We got our first look at Samsung's behemoth Galaxy View in September during the Gear S2 smartwatch release. Since then, it's been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors. The latest happened late Monday when Evan Blass, the driving force behind the once highly active Evleaks, published a presumably official rendering of the device.

Based on the image, the Galaxy View has a serious curve in the upper back portion of the device and a large Surface-like kickstand in the back. The new images also provide a better look at that bulge in the rear that appeared only briefly in Samsung's teaser. Presumably the bulge houses some serious audio speakers or is there to keep this massive beast cool.

galaxyview Evan Blass

A leaked image of the Galaxy View.

The latest rumored specs for the Galaxy View claim it will have an 18.4-inch screen, a 1080p display at 120 pixels per inch, a 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 SoC, 32GB of storage, stereo speakers, 2GB of RAM, a microSD slot that supports cards up to 128GB, and a 5,700 mAh battery. The View is expected to come in a Wi-Fi only model, as well as a 3G and LTE version. As for pricing, the Wi-Fi model could cost around $600 based on a recent leak.

The story behind the story: A few years ago everyone was going with smaller tablets like the iPad Mini, Nexus 7, and the Microsoft Surface Mini that never made it out of development. Now it appears larger tablets are a thing. The iPad Pro is about to roll out to store shelves, Lenovo recently introduced the 27-inch Lenovo Yoga Home 900, and Samsung promised us a better look at the Galaxy View in October—which so far hasn't happened. It's not yet clear where these mega-tablets are supposed to fit in. Apple is marketing the 12.9-inch iPad Pro as a device for creators and professionals, while the Galaxy View may become part of the long, sordid history of kitchen and tabletop tablets as a solution for consumption, reference, and family organization.

Whatever the case, at $600 the Wi-Fi only version has a fairly good price (assuming the leaks are accurate). But if any tablet lives or dies by its battery life it will be the Galaxy View. If that 5,700 mAh battery doesn't last long enough on one charge, the View will not be pretty.

Microsoft's Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 available today, but may be hard to find

The official release date for Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 tablet and Surface Book laptop has arrived, but you might have trouble getting the model you want anytime soon.

As of this writing, the Surface Pro 4 with Intel Core m3 and Intel Core i5 are available for immediate shipping from the Microsoft Store, as is the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover in most colors. Best Buy is selling the new tablet as well, in many cases with in-store pickup available today.

However, the Core i7 version of the Surface Pro 4 is not available yet, with Microsoft listing a November 20 ship date. Also, Microsoft is not yet selling a Core i5 model with 16GB of RAM, though it plans to do so in the future.

As for the Surface Book, none of the models with an official October 26 launch date are shipping immediately through the Microsoft Store. Some versions list a four- to five-week shipping window, while others list six to seven weeks. The high-end 1 TB model won't ship until January, and Microsoft seems to have removed the entry-level model's Nvidia graphics card option, which appeared last week.

If you want a Surface Book today, you might have some luck at Best Buy. In my neck of Cincinnati, some stores have the Core i7 model with 256 GB of storage in stock, but that's it.

The impact on you at home: If you were interested in the Surface Book but wanted to wait for some reviews and benchmarks before pulling the trigger, you're likely out of luck on launch day; pre-orders began selling out even before the first reviews went live. Fortunately for those faithful buyers, reviews have been largely positive, praising the laptop as being worth the price for those willing to spend it. If you're still on the fence, check out our own processor and hardware comparisons for more advice.

MacBook Air 2016 release date and rumors: Next MacBook Air laptop could either be released later this year or sometime 2016, rumors suggest

Reuters

Rumors are pretty confusing especially when a highly anticipated device is the subject, like Apple's upcoming MacBook Air 2016. Words on the street have suggested that the Apple laptop will either be unveiled later this year or sometime 2016.

According to the report from Neurogadget, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a sudden sale for Apple's previous devices and models. A stunt like this could also be pointed out for a huge upcoming unveiling for the company's upcoming products, thus making other fans believe that the MacBook Air 2016 might get its unveiling later this year.

However, it also points out that this could be the company's preparation for the launch of the powerful tablet, iPad Pro 2016 as its release is now imminent and could be launched sometime next month. Furthermore, Neurogadget has predicted that the release date for the MacBook Air 2016 could potentially be moved by next year to make way for the tablet.

Meanwhile, as added on the report, Intel's delayed production of their processor could also be one of the factors why Apple delays the launch of the next MacBook Air laptop.

In terms of specification, the Apple MacBook Air 2016 is rumored to sport in a 13-inch screen or even a much larger 15-inch display, as reported by the source. Moreover, for its power, the new laptop is being expected to run on Intel's latest chip, the Skylake-U processor which can give the future laptop more power than its predecessors.

Furthermore, it was also stated there that the battery of this laptop has been upgraded and if the rumor turns out to be accurate, fans can expect the upcoming MacBook Air to have more battery-life than the past models.

Follow us

Needless to say, since everything is just based on rumors for now and nothing has been made official yet, it would be ideal to take this one with a tiny spec of salt until Apple officially confirms the MacBook Air 2016 release date, as well as its official specs.

Surface Pro 4 vs. Surface Book – Microsoft’s Autumn Breaks

The release of the Surface Book came as a big surprise to us, because this isn't a tablet which can be transformed into a laptop, by attaching a keyboard, but it's a laptop with a detachable keyboard. But is it as powerful as the Surface Pro 4? Here's a comparison between the two products.

Designs and Displays

The Surface Book is not a typical laptop, but its design was inspired from Microsoft's 2-in-1 convertible tablets, but the manufacturer managed to find a balance between the tablet portion and the keyboard, so they have similar weights. And the two bodies are attached using the special hinge on the keyboard, which has some wire locks. Their role is to connect the keyboard to the tablet portion. It's interesting that the device, as a laptop, can last up to 12 hours, but that's because the keyboard has its own battery and Microsoft integrated Nvidia GeForce graphics in the keyboard dock. As for the screen, it measures 13.5-inch and supports a resolution of 3000×2000 pixels at 267ppi.

The Surface Pro 4 has an almost bezel-less display which measures 12.3-inch, but the size of the screen can be changed thanks to this new technology which is similar to the one that was used for Dell XPS 13's screen. This means that in laptop mode, the screen measures 13-inch, while in tablet mode, it's reduced to 12-inch. But the resolution is 2736×1824 pixels at 267ppi. Regarding the design, the Surface Pro 4 has the same magnesium aluminum chassis, but it's thinner than the predecessor and the Type Cover has redesigned keys and it includes a fingerprint sensor.

Hardware

Both devices are using the latest Intel Core Skylake dual-core processors and have in common a variant which uses the i5-6300U CPU clocked at 2.4GHz, whose speed can be increased up to 3GHz and it's backed by Intel HD graphics 520. The Surface Book has another variant with an i7-6600U processor clocked at 2.6GHz, but it can be boosted up to 3.4GHz and it supports the same graphics. Microsoft provides memory options of 8 or 16GB LPDDR 3 RAM and the storage variants are 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, depending on the configuration.

The Surface Pro comes with two more variants of internal configurations: the weaker m3-6Y30 clocked at 900MHz and which can be increased up to 2.2GHz, using Intel HD graphics 515, while the other model has an i7-6650U processor clocked at 2.2GHz, but its speed can be increased also up to 3.4GHz. However, this variant uses more advanced Intel Iris 540 graphics. The tablet has three RAM options: 4GB, 8GB and 16GB and the internal memory has variants of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.

Prices

The Surface Book costs between $1,499 and $3,199, while the Surface Pro 4 costs between $899 and $1,799, but you'll need to pay $130 for the Type Cover.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Pro Brings Some Serious Features to the Table!

It seems like the modern thing to do with tablets right now is to release "pro" versions of well-known models. Apple were first with their new iPad Pro, and now Samsung have also decided to introduce a similar model of their own, the Galaxy Tab S Pro. The device was the subject of much speculation once it was first announced, and people have been paying a lot of attention to its development, hoping that Samsung are going to deliver something nice to the market.

It has quite the large display, over 12 inches across the diameter, and it offer crystal clear images and fast response time with the touchscreen technology used. Not only that, but Samsung have reportedly put a lot of effort into the physical design of the device, aiming to make it more stylish and unique in its appearance than what their products are traditionally known for.

Which alone should be interesting to see, as Samsung's mobile devices are generally associated with a lot of quality and a luxurious feeling, so if they have managed to raise their own bar on this, it should be a very special device. What we've been seeing so far in terms of specifications also paints an interesting picture, and it's starting to seem like Samsung are strongly determined to make a good release with this model.

The processor will be a small beast, with a 64-bit Exynos 7580 running at 1.6 GHz, as well as 2 GB of RAM on the tablet. There will also be options for expanding the built-in 32 GB of storage, which should top off the feature set of this tablet and really paint it in a positive light for fans.

It's interesting to consider who it's been aimed at, however. This is the same problem as with Apple's iPad Pro – the tablet is obviously powerful and well-designed, and it's going to be an advanced model with a lot of features to offer. But what does the "Pro" in its name mean?

According to some experts, it might not be the ideal tablet for professionals, despite the name. Its large screen and other multimedia capabilities make it more suitable for consumers of media who want something that will give them hours of entertainment (especially with the large battery), but it seems like it will be too expensive for people who are just looking for multimedia consumption.

Students might be a good target crowd for this, but then again, the price might be a factor that works against the success of the Galaxy Tab S Pro on this market. In the end, Samsung might have some issues trying to fit this tablet into any particular area of the market, but we still don't doubt that the tablet is going to be successful one way or another. They are a company that knows their audience and this tablet is most likely the result of a lot of active market research and investigations into what people want to see.

samsung galaxy tab

Samsung have some even more interesting and unusual things lined up, such as a tablet with an 18.4 inch display that is larger than even a laptop, named the Galaxy View. The device is yet to be released, like the Galaxy Tab S Pro, and despite the somewhat clumsy-sounding design, people are already showing a lot of interest in it and it looks like Samsung might be successful with this release if they play their cards right.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Gets Massive Price Cut On eBay As Surface Pro 4 Release Looms

Microsoft Surface Pro 3

With the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 retail launch just around the corner, the previous Surface Pro 3 powerhouse has become significantly more affordable thanks to a new price cut. The latest deal on eBay now shaves $500 off the normal price of the top Surface Pro 3 model, allowing for notable savings.(Photo : eBay)

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 gets a neat discount ahead of the Surface Pro 4 retail launch, as the older model is now $499.01 cheaper.

Whenever a major new device hits the market, its predecessor usually gets significant price cuts as various retailers are gearing up to make room for the new model.

Things are no different when it comes to Microsoft's Surface Pro line, as last year's Surface Pro 3 now sells for $1,499.99 on eBay instead of its previous $1,999 price tag. That gives prospective buyers a hefty discount of 25 percent ahead of the Surface Pro 4 release.

The Surface Pro 3 model now on sale on eBay comes with 512 GB of internal storage capacity and, as expected, it's available only in limited quantities. Seller Gravity Buys is offering only the silver variant of the tablet hybrid.

As a reminder, the Surface Pro 3 launched as a powerful device capable of replacing your laptop, as Microsoft boasted. The slate features a 12-inch ClearType display with a high resolution of 2,160 x 1,440 pixels at a 3:2 aspect ratio, while under the hood it packs a powerful Intel Core i7 processor (fourth generation) paired with Intel HD graphics (at least this variant on sale now).

Other specs include a hefty 8GB of RAM, 512 GB of native storage, 5MP rear camera, and stereo speakers with Dolby Audio, among the highlights. The Surface Pro 3 comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a range of ports, and Windows 8.1 Pro on the software side, upgradable out of the box to the latest Windows 10 OS.

Notable specifications also include microSD support for additional storage, a strong battery life of up to nine hours on a single charge, and stylus support. Head over to the Microsoft Store to learn more about specifications.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 may not be the latest flagship tablet from Microsoft, but it still packs a punch and continues to enjoy great popularity. The latest discount on eBay now makes the tablet more attractive and affordable, and it also comes with an eBay Money Back Guarantee. The item is brand new, unopened and unused, and it comes in its original packaging.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab S – What Has changed

After so many leaks that were seen online, Samsung has finally unveiled the Samsung Tab 8.20 and 9.7 which is just a year after the release of the Tab S series was made known.

The Tab S2 is a brand new tablet-type from the Samsung brand. It has many changes compared to the actual Tab S range, however, how do they match? Is the S2 better than its predecessor? Read on to find out into details about its major differences.

The Unique Changes to Look Out For

The new Tab S range is smaller, lighter and slimmer generally. This is one of the main hardware changes than their predecessors with 5.6 mm and it claims to be the slimmest ever. The Tab S2 is currently available in both 8.0 inches and 9.7-inch models with the original Tab S coming in 8.4 and 10.5-inch models as well as on screens that are smaller. This means, there has been a weight reduction with the S2 as compared to its predecessors.

Both tablets from the brand come with touch fingerprint based sensors such as the S6 versus swipe based sensors on the actual Tab S. The enhanced fingerprint sensors help to make unlocks using fingerprints more reliable and also compete the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that is found on the iPad.

Color Differences they Come In

The S2 is also accessible in additional standardized black and while shades even as the Samsung Tab S came designed in colors that are daring like white and bronze. The back cover of the Tab S2 is smooth, and this is not the same as the Tab S, which is textured at the back. The back of the S2 is in plastic. It is very rare to witness or see a successor that has a display that is possibly less premium than the device before. However, Samsung was designed to be a strong decision. The display of the device is the best change between these two generations which are the Tab S and S2.

Both tablets are designed with the Super AMOLED display that offers resolution 2048 pixels x 1536 pixels, but although this is might be smaller, they still provide quite fewer pixels than the actual Tab S devices. The main and major change however is that, the brand has decided and chosen to make use of the 4:3 ratios that the Apple iPad brings than the 16:10 normal range that is used by most Android tablets.

EE Robin specs and features

The EE Robin is a 7in tablet, similar to rivals such as the Tesco Hudl 2, and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Specifications include a quad-core processor (unspecified in the press release), 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There's also a Micro-SD card slot for adding up to 32GB more and a 2Mp rear facing camera.

It features a 'child-proof' bumper design and can be used as a regular Android tablet 'at the click of a button'. This is because it normally runs a child-friendly Kurio interface over the top designed to keep kids safe when online.

Parental controls allow you to manage user accounts, app management what content is being viewed with things like web filters and safe lists. You can also limit how much time a child can spend on non-educational apps.

The EE Robin comes with more than 40 pre-loaded apps, games and eBooks including Fruit Ninja and Berry Rush. Downloads from the Google Play store will require permission before they are installed.

The main thing which EE is promoting, of course, is the 4G LTE data connectivity with 27 percent of parents in a commissioned survey responding that 'being able to access content from anywhere' is a vital element when choosing a tablet.

Tesco: ‘No plans’ for Hudl 3 tablet

by Sean Keach 18 October 2015

Surprisingly, and against all odds, the Tesco Hudl range of tablets has been a resounding success.

Unfortunately, it appears that Tesco might be shuttering the line for good.

A spokesperson for Tesco reveals the firm has "no plans" for a Hudl 3, as revealed in a report by Marketing Magazine.

What's more, it turns out that several people who worked on the Hudl and Hudl 2 are no longer involved with Tesco.

The report details these individuals as lead Android engineer Kirwan Lyster, and product managers Poppy Newdick, James Peacock, and Joe Newall.

The article also claims that "a source with knowledge of the matter confirmed a third-generation Hudl will likely never appear".

Related: Best Tablet 2015

Tesco first revealed its Hudl tablet back in September 2013, in an effort to bring cheap tablet computing to its customers.

At just £119, it was a relative hit, and Tesco managed to ship 750,000 units of the slate.

Banking on the success, Tesco launched a successor – the Hudl 2 – in early October last year, again offering respectable quality as a budget £129 price.

iPad Mini 4 Review, Release Date & Case: iPhone 6S Plus Better Than Apple’s 7.9-inch Tablet?

Apple Introduces Latest iPad

The newest iPad mini release from Apple is far from what fans expected it to be with many even considering the iPhone 6s Plus better than the iPad Mini 4.

Mashable said that when the iPad Mini 4 was introduced during the Apple event last September, it did not make a good impression as it seemed like an iPad Air 2 scaled down to a 7.9-inch device.

"With iPad sales on the decline and the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus cannibalizing any real need for a device with a screen between 5.5 and 9.7 inches," added the same report noting that the iPad made sense a few years ago, but has essentially lost its niche to the iPhone 6S Plus.

The iPad Mini is said to have the same great design as the iPad Air 2 though it comes with edges that are "a little dated." Mashable said people would want to see some curved edges like the iPhone 6.

It is also lighter than its predecessor though it feels a bit heavier than its supposed weight of 0.65 pounds.

However, Stuff does take note that it comes with a faster processor and better 8 MP camera. Stuff.tv reports that the A8 chip is a great processor since it is also the ones used in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Despite not running in the newest iOS 9 release, the same report said that the functionality of the device improved a lot.

"Screen-in-screen functionality also proved tremendously helpful when we were watching a YouTube video and had to answer an urgent email," added Stuff.tv.

Meanwhile on the inside, the device reportedly has great offerings starting with the split-screen feature which allows people to use two applications at the same time. "The second allows you to open a second app without leaving the one you are in. Handy for quickly replying to a message or email," stated Stuff.

Stuff also notes that for some people who want to enjoy using a digital device that is not too heavy or bulky, the Mini is still a great option. According to Stuff, the screen has a good balance which gives readers the chance to easily read a book from the tablet.

For those who want to purchase the iPad Mini 4, it comes in three colors - silver, gold and grey. Its price ranges from $649 to $949. Mobile capability costs $200 more.

Mashable highlighted that the tablet has great weight and internal features but it seems to be getting old and is also expensive.

10 Things to Know About the Nexus 7 Marshmallow Update

A few days ago, Google started rolling out its Nexus 7 Marshmallow update. The Android 6.0 update brings a ton of enhancements but it also brings some problems. With that in mind, we want to take a look at a few of the most important things to know about the Nexus 7 Marshmallow update and release.

Earlier this year, Google confirmed an Android M update for several Nexus devices. The company also produced a beta called Android M Developer Preview that allowed select Nexus users to download and try the software out ahead of its release.

Google's Nexus 7 2013 wasn't included in the Developer Preview. The company's aging former flagship was, however, included in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release that started rolling out earlier this month.

The Nexus 7 Marshmallow update isn't available for the 2012 model but it has come to owners of the newer variant. And while nothing is confirmed, we expect this to be the last system update for Google's slate.

Marshmallow

The Nexus 7's Android 6.0 system upgrade has been around for a little over a week now and it's starting to push to devices in the United States and around the world.

Google's new operating system brings a ton of new features to the table but it also, according to some Nexus 7 users, brings problems.

Today, we want to take a look at those problems and several other Nexus 7 Marshmallow update details. Here is what current and prospective Nexus 7 Marshmallow users need to know about Google's latest release.

This Nexus 7 roundup covers Marshmallow problems, a few reasons to skip the Nexus 7 Android 6.0 update when it arrives for you and some strategies that could come in handy as we move away from Google's October 5th release date.

Nexus 7 Marshmallow Update: Early Impressions Nexus 7 Marshmallow Update: Early Impressions

We're still waiting for the Nexus 7 Marshmallow OTA to arrive on our tablet so we can't offer up our own impressions just yet. What we can do though is highlight some of the feedback we've seen from other Nexus 7 users.

While there are some rotten apples, the feedback about the Nexus 7 Marshmallow update has been, at least thus far, overwhelmingly positive. Nexus 7 users are saying that the update is running great on their tablet and that battery life has been outstanding during their time with the new software.

The Nexus 7 2013 hasn't landed for a ton of people yet so feedback is still scarce. If you're going to be relying on that feedback, and some of you will be, keep your eyes peeled. We'll be posting our impressions of the update just as soon as it arrives OTA. Google's Nexus Help Forums are a great place to start poking around.

Toshiba dynaPad release date, price and specs

Toshiba dynaPad release date, price and specs Windows 10 tablet focuses on being the digitial pen and paper. Features removable keyboard and Wacom stylus

By Chris Martin | 13 Oct 15

Microsoft Surface rivals are popping up left, right and center at the moment with Toshiba the latest to announce a Windows 10 tablet. Here's what you need to know about the Toshiba dynaPad release date, price and specs.

The Surface Pro 4 has been unveiled and it seems Microsoft's partners are proving its success by all attempting to make similar devices. WE wouldn't describe the dynaPad as a clone like the Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 but it is certainly a rival.

See also: Surface Pro 4 hands-on review.

Toshiba dynaPad release date and price

In the UK and Europe the Toshiba dynaPad will arrive in the first quarter of 2016 so you've got to wait until after Christmas to get your hands on one.

There isn't a price in Sterling but a price of 130,000 Japanese Yen works out at £712 which is similar to the £749 starting price of the Surface Pro 4.

Toshiba dynaPad specs and features

The Surface Pro 4 might feature a new svelte design but Toshiba calls the dynaPad the 'world's thinnest and lightest 12in Windows 10 tablet' since it is just 6.9mm and 569g. Regardless of how many 12in Windows 10 tablets there are to rival this, that's impressive.

That 12in display has a 1920x1280 resolution and inside is an Intel Atom processor. Not as impressive as the Skylake processors in the Surface but the dynaPad does have 4GB of RAM. There's no word on other models or, in fact, detailed specs.

Available in 'Satin Gold', the dynaPad is four times stiffer than a conventional structure, according to Toshiba. The tablet connects to the keyboard via magnets which offers a 19mm pitch and 1.5mm travel on the keys. The stylus – see below – clips to the side.

Toshiba says the dynaPad "has been designed to replicate the naturally comfortable feeling of handwriting with a pen and paper – even mirroring the common B5 notebook size."

To this end, it comes with a Wacom Active Electro-Static stylus which supports 2,048 levels of pressure and 'excels at position accuracy'. Toshiba also includes a suite of original applications to make the most of the device including TruNote, TruCapture, TruRecorder, TruNote Clip and TruNote Share.

"Whether it be making a voice recording of a meeting, capturing an image of text or scribbling a simple handwritten note, the collection of applications will enable users to communicate their content via the likes of email and PowerPoint seamlessly - across multiple devices," said the firm.

The prescription only tablets were in the strength of 240 mg in 500-count bottles, it added.

Sony Xperia Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Schedule

Sony Phones Getting Android 6.0 MarshmallowSony just released a list of devices set to upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it's pretty big. Among the included devices we have the Xperia Z5 along with all its variations, as well as the Z3+ and many others, plus the Xperia C4 which is rather surprising, and we expect the update to arrive over the air pretty soon.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is out in the wild now and it brings a lot of exciting features, but we have no exact roll out date for these devices. Sony seems to be rather optimistic about it with a big list, even though some devices are missing. The list is rather incomplete but experience tells us that it will take quite a while for the OTA to arrive to all these devices. It varies from carrier to carrier but you can expect the OTA to start rolling out starting early next year. Right now Sony says that the list is not final so if you don't find your device then don't despair as you will most likely get it too if you have a relatively new device.

We will make Android 6.0, Marshmallow available for: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4*.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow New Features

Android 6.0 MarshmallowAndroid 6.0 Marshmallow is a very exciting new release and you should be excited to get it on your Sony device. Among other things, Android 6.0 Marshmallow adds Doze Mode which detects when your phone hasn't been touched in a while and disables certain background processes. Another feature added in Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a dark UI and a possible screen split option, though these two are a bit controversial in the sense that we're unsure if they will make it in the final build or not. Still, Sony owners will be getting this update pretty soon and we are hoping that companies will be more serious about upgrading their devices this year as opposed to last year and this year.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 specs, price, release date: An irresistable tablet from Redmond

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 specs, price, release date: An irresistable tablet from Redmond

Almost everyone is full of praise for Microsoft's most recent launch, Surface Pro 4. Every reviewer is praising it as if the tablet was the best thing to have happened. There is no denying the fact that enterprises are going to fall for it and Microsoft is hoping that individual users too develop a liking for it in the coming days.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 was a massive success. It was something that forced enterprises to go for it and now the newest version is going to be even bigger success. It is a complete and very powerful laptop or say ultrabook in the form of a tablet.microsoft surface-book

There is no denying the fact that the machine is simply rendered into a laptop with the help of a keyboard cover and kickstand that also come along with the glitzy tablet. So while it can be a tablet while on the move, in the confines of your home or office it is as good as a laptop.

The best thing about the new tablet is the fact that it retains the best of the Pro 3 and then adds a whole lot of improvements in the machine.

The newest version of the Surface Pro comes with a bit larger and also higher-resolution screen. Though the tab actually has the same 3:2 aspect ratio of Surface pro 3, it bumps up to 12.3 inches with a 2736×1824 resolution. The port layout and wireless capabilities are identical—you still get one full-size USB 3.0 port, an SD card slot, a Mini DisplayPort, and the port for the Type Cover, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and 866Mbps 802.11ac.

Another major change is the fact that the ubiquitous and rather capacitive Windows button is nowhere to be seen in the new version.

Redmond based company claims that Surface Pro's latest version is blazing fast. There is no denying the fact that both the products seem impressive. Surface Pro 4 comes with 12.3-inch display which supports a resolution of 2736×1824 pixels, which results in a pixel density of 267ppi, and for protection against scratches, it uses a layer of 0.4mm of Gorilla Glass. One improvement is the fact that Microsoft has developed a special Touch Chipset and the tablet has also a stylus and it can be connected to a physical keyboard.

There is no denying the fact that the Surface Pro 4 beats MacBook Air comprehensively. Surface Pro 4 actually comes loaded with 6th Gen Intel Core M3, i5, or i7 (Skylake) processors which are paired with Intel HD graphics 515, 520 or 540, and 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM. There are four variants of internal memories (SSD), and their capacities are128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. On the other hand the MacBook Air is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (whose speed can be increased up to 2.7GHz), and it's configurable to 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 (which can run up to 3.2GHz). The processor is paired with an Intel HD Graphics 6000 processor and it supports 4GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3. The storage options are 128GB or 256GB PCIe-based SSD and there's an optional 512GB upgrade.

As far as pricing is concerned, latest Surface Pro starts at $899 and goes on sale on October 26. Surface Pro 4 with i5 starts at $999 and Surface Pro 4 with i7 will start at $1599. Microsoft also announced a new keyboard for the Surface Pro 4 with Fingerprint ID and according to the company, the new keyboard is thinner and lighter than before with improved magnetic stability.

By Chris Martin | 08 Oct 15

Microsoft had a lot of exciting news to share on 6 October relating to Windows 10 devices and one of the stars of the show was the Surface Pro 4, as per the rumours. We explain what you need to know about the Surface Pro 4 release date, price and specs. Updated on 8/10/15 with information about the 1TB model. Read our Surface Pro 4 hands-on review.

You can see how the launch happened here where Microsoft also announced the Lumia 950 smartphones, a Lumia 550, the Microsoft Band 2, and the shock announcement of the Surface Book laptop.

Surface Pro 4 UK release date and price

The Surface Pro 4 is available in various models and starts at £749/$899. You can pre-order it 7 October from Microsoft's store ahead of its 26 October release date. However, we'll have to wait until 12 November in the UK for it to go on sale.

The Pro 3 cost from £639/$799 so the new model is a little more expensive. The Surface Pro 3 is still available at a lower price of £549. Also see: How to get Windows 10 now.

Update: We've added all the UK prices below now the Pro 4 is available to pre-order and the 1TB model is not available on the English store. In response, we got the following statement from Microsoft which does mean a great deal but implies the 1TB model might be made available in the future.

"We do not comment on pending market availability. That said, we have taken and will continue to take a measured and phased approach to Surface Pro 4 availability to meet customer demand and partner expectations."

Surface Pro 4 specifications

As you might expect, the Surface Pro 4 is essentially the same device – a tablet with a detachable keyboard and a kick stand – but that doesn't mean Microsoft hasn't made changes and upgrades. There are quite a lot so let's run through them.

For starters, the device is thinner at just 8.4mm – Microsoft said it only stopped to ensure the Pro 4 could have full-size USB. This also means it's lighter at 766g for the Core M model. See also: Which laptop to buy: laptop buying advice, and the best laptops.

The screen is slightly larger at 12.3in and has 60 percent more pixels(2736x1824), 5 million to be exact resulting in a pixel density of 267ppi. Microsoft calls it PixelSense and it includes a 0.4mm Gorilla Glass front, photo-aligned negative LC oxide and a 1.1mm backlight unit. Inside is a new hybrid cooling system, too.

Core specs have been beefed up with up to a 6th-generation Intel Skylake processor, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD (see the models available above). Microsoft says the Surface Pro 4 is 50 percent faster than the MacBook Air – take that Apple! It's also 30 percent faster than the Surface Pro 3.

Surface Pro 4 Pen

Surface Pro 4 Pen

The Surface Pro 4 is packed with ports, too. It's still got USB 3.0, a Mini-DisplayPort and a Micro-SD card slot. An 8Mp camera is there if you need it.

The new Surface Pen comes in five different colours but that's not the only change. It has a year-long battery life, supports 1,024 levels of pressure, features a tail eraser, connects magnetically and also has interchangeable tips. It also comes with the Pro 4.

The new TypeCover is still optional and, like the tablet itself, is thinner and lighter. There are five colours and it has faster and quieter keys. Those keys have a 1.3mm travel and a 19mm pitch. Furthermore a new glass trackpad is 40 percent larger and some have an integrated fingerprint scanner now - these are designed for the Pro 3 since the Pro 4 supports facial recognition. It's good news for existing owners as the new keyboard works with the Surface Pro 4. It costs £109 and you can pre-order it now.

Windows 10 release to boost enterprise tablet sales, says Strategy Analytics

Microsoft's release of Windows 10 for PCs and tablets in July is expected to boost enterprise tablet sales, predicted Eric Smith, senior analyst for tablet and touchscreen strategies at market research firm Strategy Analytics.

In addition, the impending release of the Surface Pro 4 tablet should further spur tablet enterprise sales, noted Smith in the release.

Tablet sales in the enterprise segment are also being boosted by the enterprise-focused products and partnerships of vendors such as Apple, Samsung, Microsoft and HP.

Overall, Strategy Analytics forecasted that tablet shipments will make a comeback next year, after contracting 4 percent this year. The market research firm expects a 7 percent growth in tablet shipments in 2016.

This growth will be fueled by replacement cycles, as the hundreds of millions of tablets sold a few years ago will need upgrades.

"As replacement cycles have lengthened for both tablets and PCs in recent years, 2-in-1 detachable tablets have become affordable enough that they will compete for consumer spend of both products. A household could settle on a 2-in-1 tablet for casual use, which can also transform into a dockable mini-workstation when needed for more intensive activities," observed Peter King, research director for tablet and touchscreen strategies at Strategy Analytics, in a statement.

"The existence of the '11-inch or more' tablet screen size category is a great example of the expanding feature set and usage model of the tablet as it plays into the prosumer and enterprise segments due to cost and functionality. Improved processor technologies from the likes of Intel, which enable tablets to be more powerful, thinner, and lighter, are also driving the market," King added, in a statement.

The device will feature at least 4-8GB of RAM, but there will be a 16GB RAM version as well. Microsoft is also expected to add support for LTE in Pro 4.

    SURFACE PRO 4 DESIGN CHANGES

It is expected that the new device will be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor and the new machine will be likely available in 14-inch and 12-inch variants. Chinese tech website 36KR reported few months ago that the Surface Pro 4 is going to be a fanless device with small holes in its casing to allow heat to dissipate.

SURFACE PRO 4 RELEASE DATE AND PRICING

Microsoft sent invites to the media on September 14 for an October 6 event in New York. "We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices," it says. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is expected to cost between $910 to $1,820.

Microsoft Surface pro 4 release date confirmed: Better specs, much improved processor

Microsoft Surface pro 4 is being awaited with bated breath. The level of expectation is very high and people are all excited about the hybrid tablet that they believe will be a massive improvement over the already superb Surface Pro 3.

There are reasons to believe that it is going to be a delightful experience for gaming enthusiasts, besides of course enterprises who are trying to verify rumors if the tablet/ laptop hybrid will come with a 1TB storage. If this is indeed true and the hybrid is coming with improved processor, larger storage options, this means that enterprises will fall for it without much of delay.

In the meantime there are reasons to believe that the arrival of not just this impeccable machine, but also a couple of other products from Redmond based tech giant is all set for October 6, merely three days from now.Surface pro 2 specs features accessories

A report in the top tech blog Tech Radar has this to say, "Microsoft has sent out media invites to an event being held on October 6, which promises 'some exciting news about Windows 10 devices.' With Windows 10 out in the wild and Intel's Skylake processors finding their way into devices, it wouldn't be crazy to think that the Surface Pro 4 might take centre stage that day."

The new tablet from Microsoft is going to be substantially improved than the existing version. A report has this to say, "As per details available with us, the new Surface Pro 4 will reportedly feature variants carrying 12-inch and 14-inch displays as well as brand new Intel processors when it will launch next month. The new processors in question could either be Intel's Core M Broadwell CPU or Intel Skylake processors to be available in Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 variants."

The news that has got the highest amount of attention recently is rumor that the new Surface Pro 4 may be coming with Intel's latest Skylake processors. As far as resolution of the tab is concerned, it is expected to remain the same. There are some sources who say that the Surface Pro 4 will have the same 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution screen as the Surface Pro 3, but others say both the 12-inch and 14-inch variants of the Surface Pro 4 will contain a 4K Ultra HD screen. The Surface Pro 4 will challenge Apple's iPad Pro, but Microsoft's device has one main advantage, and it is the fact that it has a desktop operating system installed (Windows 10) rather than iOS 9, the mobile operating system that will run on the iPad Pro.

The Surface Pro 3's battery life was criticized by almost everyone. Anandtech's Anand Lal Shimpi says, "In our tablet benchmarks, I never saw Surface Pro break the 6 hour mark on a single charge. In most cases I'd expect to see 5 – 6 hours out of Surface Pro in light, tablet usage. Video playback was especially disappointing as Surface Pro managed to use more power here than during our web browsing battery life test". Now there are reasons to believe that the company has worked on this aspect and the new tab will come with significantly improved battery life.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Lumia 950, 950 XL, Band 2 to release at Windows 10 devices event on October 6

Microsoft has announced the dates of much-awaited Windows 10 devices event, which is happening in New York on October 6. The event is expected to witness the launch of new Surface 4 Pro tablet, Band 2, new Lumia smartphones, and even new version of Hololens as well.

Even though Microsoft has remained muted on what new devices it is going to unveil on the big day, going by the statement of one its spokeswoman who said that "We're eager to share some exciting news about Windows 10 devices", it is evident that Microsoft will uncover new devices that run on Windows 10, its latest operating system.

It is widely rumored that the October 6 event could see the launch of Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 and Microsoft Windows 10 Smartphones, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Added to above, we could also see updates on Microsoft Band and Hololens. Here are some more details on the story.

Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL – First Windows 10 smartphones

Rumored to be named as Talkman and Cityman (Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, respectively) these 2 high-end specs smartphones are expected to be the stars of the show. Incidentally, pictures and specification of these models have already been leaked into the market.

    Lumia 950

Leaked specs say that Lumia 950 will have a 5.2-inch screen while the Lumia 950 XL will be slightly bigger with 5.7-inch. Both phones are expected to have 3GB of RAM, a 20MP camera, QHD resolution and 32GB of storage. The Lumia 950 XL will house a slightly faster Qualcomm 810 processor while the Lumia 950 will have an 808 processor.

    Surface Pro 4 – First 2 in 1 with Windows 10

October 6th could also see Microsoft announcing the release date of its first Windows 10 Tablet – Surface Pro 4. Going by the success of Surface 3 which was promoted as "the tablet that can replace your laptop", Surface Pro 4 could well be that perfect 2-in-1 device that can cause a bit of a worry for Apple's soon to be released iPad Pro.

Surface Pro 4 is rumored to come in 2 sizes, one with a 12 inch display and a larger version with a 14 inch display. Keeping the same design of Surface 3, Microsoft could use Intel's Broadwell-Y CPU in Surface Pro 4. Microsoft is likely to keep the storage options similar to Surface 3, starting from 64GB to 128GB, 256GB, and 500GB and even 1TB as an option.  This first Windows 10 Tablet is also expected to have 16GB of RAM and come with Xbox game streaming.

    Microsoft Band 2?

Similar to Microsoft Band, its successor Microsoft Band 2 hasn't seen much stories made on its specs or pictures. Come October 6th event and we may see Microsoft coming up with an update to its fitness tracker and smartwatch which has room for hardware design and performance improvements. Although it is not believed that Microsoft's Band 2.0 would run on Windows 10 OS it is expected to be a part of Windows 10 family of products.

HoloLens : Microsoft could unveil release date

HoloLens could be the surprise package again at the October 6th event. Microsoft stunned everyone when it announced HoloLens at the Windows 10 launch earlier in the year. At that time Microsoft even demonstrated the prowess of this smart-glasses headset that is a cordless, self-contained Windows 10 computer. It uses advanced sensors, a high-definition stereoscopic 3D optical head-mounted display, and spatial sound to allow for augmented reality applications.

    Lumia 950

Also, earlier in the year, at its E3 press conference, Microsoft showed how HoloLens could be used with the popular 3D building game Minecraft. October 6th event is likely to bring further news on the release HoloLens.

Microsoft has said that it will be live streaming the October 6 hardware event. We will be covering everything here, so watch out this space for more updates.
