A new Android powered BlackBerry tablet could be coming soon

BlackBerry CEO John Chen spoke to analysts today via conference call following the release of the company's fiscal fourth quarter earnings report. BlackBerry reported profits on an adjusted basis of 4 cents a share, topping forecasts of a breakeven quarter. During his chat with the Wall Street prognosticators, Chen made everyone's ears perk up when he said that BlackBerry is moving into the second phase of its licensing program. He noted that one of BlackBerry's partners is very interested in building an Android powered slate, and as a result "you may soon see a BlackBerry tablet,"  Chen said.

LIST: 5 tech toys for the big girls

MANILA, Philippines —  Studies show that modern Filipino women are much into fashion and technology.

In time for Women's Month this March, multinational agency J. Walter Thompson (JWT) Philippines released the results of its "Filipina Next" study based on quantitative and qualitative research among Filipinas across socio-economic classes ABCDE and between the ages of 18 to 70.

According to the results of "Filipina Next," 85 percent of Filipinas surveyed believe that technology empowers them, while 89 percent uphold that technology gives them a voice.

"Technology has an important role in driving the Filipina forward, both in being a global citizen and in finding new solutions," JWT Philippines stated.

Social media, the study expounded, has allowed Filipinas to voice out issues that matter to them to people all over the world, as well as hear others' stories.

"New apps and gadgets have also helped her manage her day-to-day life better, such as having more information on her health and allowing her to stay on top of her business even when home," the press statement added.

Creative ways to store Instax prints

After the Photo Diary, FujiFilm Philippines launches the Memory Lane album, a unique Instax album made of thick-bordered pages where one can keep Instax prints.

"Our mission is to keep memories on hand and make sure that they would be available for future generations to gaze at," says Takuya Maeda, FujiFilm Philippines Division Head for Electronic Imaging and Photo Imaging.

People nowadays, according to him, have become careless in taking pictures unlike before.

"Filipinos love taking photos...We have endeavored to help them preserve their memories in the best possible way, especially now since it is graduation and summer season, when people really need to keep important memories."

The Memory Lane album has been designed to protect precious prints from dust, dirt, moisture and sunlight to reduce fading and ensure that they stand the test of time. It is bundled up with the Instax Mini 8 and a range of digital cameras.

Actress and FujiFilm ambassador Bea Alonzo suggests designing the album in many creative ways, such as for a wedding proposal or as personal recipe book.

Users are further encouraged to doodle on the sides, place stickers, even write haiku or short poems to make their albums not only unique but very personal and heart-warming.

The shop for the rough and tough

From weekend warriors, Filipinos today, says entrepreneur Jay Tengo, have become workday-to-weekend warriors, which means many are now going straight to their outdoor adventures right after work.

Thus, if there are day-to-night outfits, there also bags and accessories with the look, storage, strength and functionality, flexible enough for office-to-outdoor use. These goods can all be found in Tengco's new lifestyle shop for the mobile urban warrior, Urban Rugged Gear (URGe).

Located at the second floor of Greenbelt 1 in Makati City and at the second floor of Theater Mall in Greenhills, URGe carries innovative gear such as portable solar power systems; earphones made to never to fall out even under rigorous physical activity; action cameras; protective covers that can turn your regular phone into a professional diver's camera; modular bags with removable parts; and gadget bags made of handmade textiles from artisan villages in Ghana, Guatamela, India, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Handmade two-in-one laptop/tablet

Electronics company HP Philippines recently unveiled its latest hybrid innovation, the HP Spectre x360. To highlight the laptop's unique feature as a "union between artisanal craftsmanship and functional ingenuity," it was launched together with versatile art pieces from renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue and the Benildean Industrial Designers Organization.

The new premium laptop is said to be "more artisan than manufactured" and can either be used as a laptop or tablet, said HP Philippines managing director Pallasena Viswanath.

"It provides exceptional performance and design to complement the dynamic lifestyles of our tastemakers," Viswanath added.

As a laptop, HP Spectre x360 claims to deliver industry-level work performance, while it can also shift into a tablet, a powerful, portable tool for on-the-go users. For leisure and entertainment use, the stand and tent modes are there to enjoy movies and music.

Similar to the first HP Spectre model, the new x360 unit also sports a hidden piston hinge mechanism, which makes way for a 10.4mm and 2.45lbs featherweight, seamless design feature that puts mobility at ease.

It retains its predecessor's distinct copper metal accent and two-tone gray carbon fiber and aluminum top finish. It also boasts a 13-inch, edge-to-edge, durable and scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and a vibrant, full-high definition display for crisp pictures and wide viewing angles. It can allegedly run up to nine hours of battery life with its hybrid polymer battery system. A backlit keyboard and track pad also makes it a user-friendly unit, while the full Intel Core i5 or i7 power supply and its Windows 10 operating system deliver a smooth performance.

Mobile phone convenience store

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven opened its 2,000th store in the Philippines recently at the LV Locsin Building, 6752 Makati Avenue, Legazpi Village, Makati. The store chain celebrates this feat with a concert at the Bonifacio Global City Amphitheater, top-billed by Moonstar88, Gracenote, Imago, Ransom Collective and Bamboo.

To complement the stores, the company will soon release its new mobile app, a platform on Facebook Messenger and a CLiQQ WiFi in all of its stores. Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the country licensee of 7-Eleven, started developing its e-commerce initiatives to take advantage of the emerging digital retail market.

The company opened its first store in the Philippines in 1984 and reached 500 stores seven years ago. PSC was able to expand to 1,000 stores in 2014 and now to 2,000 stores in just over two years.

The store chain went nationwide with its first branch in Visayas in 2012 and in Mindanao in 2015. Currently, there are 255 stores in Visayas and 107 stores in Mindanao.

PSC will open 412 more stores this year and continue to innovate its products and services such as its CLiQQ Rewards loyalty program. The global store chain now has over 60,000 stores in 17 countries, making it claim to be the largest convenience retailer in the world.

Get cash back rewards when booking rides

As more and more people become app dependent, mobile application ShopBack aims to help consumers get more savings from daily expenses. Those who have been choosing Grab as their daily mode of transportation should enjoy some cash back using the ShopBack app.

First, Grab riders must download the ShopBack app in the App Store for iOS users or the Google Play Store for those with Android phones. Click the Ride icon and book your ride on Grab.

With every ride on GrabCar services (GrabCar Premium, six-seater Economy and six-seater Premium) and GrabShare, riders can now get a reward of a five-peso cash back.

For cash back to be tracked successfully, do not edit "Notes to Driver" when making your booking. Cash back is applicable to completed GrabCar rides only, thus, cancelled or incomplete trips will not be awarded a cash rebate. It is also only valid for the rides made within the Philippines.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs, news and updates: Here's everything we know so far

While fans are eagerly waiting for Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date announcement, all sorts of speculations are floating around about the specs and features of the upcoming device.

Veteran technology writer Mary Jo Foley is said to have spoken with several sources familiar with Microsoft's plans in the coming months. Foley reports (via ZDNet) that the Redmond, Washington company will still hold their usual hardware launch event before spring ends.

She added that another anticipated product – the Surface Book 2 – "is not going to be announced here" and she is still unsure if that is the same fate for the sought-after hybrid tablet-laptop, the Surface Pro 5. Foley also reiterated that Microsoft has pushed back the unveiling of the HoloLens hologram products to 2019.

And as to what Microsoft will announce in spring (if the things people have been expecting from the company are not making appearances), Foley speculates that it might be a whole new Surface product line that she dubbed as "Cloud Books" that will try to challenge Chromebooks. Foley also considers a possible Surface device that is more focused on gaming-related functions.

However, the tech world is still hoping to see Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date arrive before this year ends.

As far as Microsoft Surface Phone specs are concerned, one of the most expected specifications to land is the upcoming Windows 10 update dubbed as Redstone 2. In earlier reports, it was even one of the considered reasons why Microsoft is delaying the release of the anticipated hybrid tablet-laptop.

Back in 2016, the most (or what used to be the only) possible chip to power the Surface Pro 5 was Intel's latest Kaby Lake processors. However, with the announcement of AMD's Ryzen which is equally powerful but significantly cheaper, the odds have greatly changed.

While many are hopeful that the Surface Pro 5 will be unveiled this year, Microsoft is yet to officially confirm the existence of the said product.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date: New Hope For Announcement At the Redmond-Based Tech Giant Event in October

(Photo : Information Technology/Youtube) Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date in October 2017

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date have disappointed its fans several times. However, the Redmond-based tech giant event gives a new hope.

Last year, fans and tech enthusiasts hoped for the release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 at a special event of the Redmond-based tech company which was usually held in October. Because the Surface Pro 5 have disappointed its fans several times since its disappearance at the MWC event, people hopes that the tablet will be unveiled in October this year.

Like Us on Facebook

ZDNet reported that there are no brand-new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 or even Surface Book that was released in 2016. The last released of the Microsoft is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 two years ago, at an October event.

Meanwhile, according to MobiPicker which announced last year the confirmation of the upcoming 2-in-1 hybrid laptop, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is scheduled to be released at an October 26 event. The event was recalled as the Redmond-based tech giant event hosted by the company.

However, the speculation though confirmed was not conceptualized, the reason why until now, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is still much-awaited. Several speculations spread over and over pertaining to the delay of the coming of the Surface Pro 5 tablet.

To recall, rumors claimed a few months ago that it was the Windows 10 Creators Update which keeps the long period of the unveiling of the Surface Pro 5. While others claim that it was the unfinished processor which taking the release date too long. Additionally, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was rumored to have unfinalized processor whether it will come with Intel Kaby Lake Core i7, AMD Ryzen or Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 chip.

At this point, there are no other event that fans can keep in touch for the announcement of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 aside from the usual Redmond-based tech giant event usually held in October. Or if Microsoft will surprise the fans, the upcoming Surface Hardware Event can also feature the Surface Pro 5 soon.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet

It is a yoga Android tablet from Lenovo called Yoga Tab 3. Guess it is small 8 inches tablet and has the usual yoga design with the barrel hinge. This is the latest generation Lenovo yoga tablet and it is running Android 5.1.1 lollipop which is currently the latest version ok. Tab has a powerful processor, an8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It also supports multi-language keyboards for better chatting.  Let's get into the detailed review and see what more does it got.

    DESIGN:

Lenovo Tab 3 has a Narrow Slim Design with Metallic Body that feels nice to hold. The barrel hinge at the back is gonna pop out metal stand. It has a press to release button and you can also use it as wall hanging device. It can be used as a photo frame or something like that. The stand holds it up at a perfect angle and you won't be using our stump stand that we do with the tablets to hold. It also has the hanging mode and that is awesome.

The stand is metal and strong. It is nice and sturdy. The back is black and it's kind of neat finish, actually, it looks pretty good. They did a good job of making this not look cheesy. It has unique kind of texture finish at the back which is not slippery and hidden behind here is a small door which reveals the place for micro SD card and a sim slot. The front firing speakers are placed on the hinge. From the side, you can see it is a quite thin tablet and on the left side you get the Micro USB slot and the volume controls.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet review

It has a power button on the hinge which is classy and not bad. And we have a camera on the hinge which is a rotating 180 degrees. This is a front and rear camera and reduces the cost of the device by providing only one camera. At the back, you can see the camera with LED flash placed in a small panel. Having dimensions of 210 x 125 x 8.9 mm and weighs around 329 grams.

    DISPLAY:

Lenovo Tab 3 comes with an 8-inch display LCD display giving around 16M colors. It is packed with 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. It is a multi-touch capacitive screen.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet review specs

This is a wide viewing angle IPS display which gives the best view. It is a 5 point finger gesture. You obviously get a very colorful display and they really have a neat guitar desktop wallpaper here. It is also bright and has a good contrast.

    FEATURES:

Lenovo Tab 3 running on a MediaTek® 1.0GHz quad-core processor, an MT8161p processor with Mali 450 MP Graphic card. The tablet supports 3G and 2G. This is a dual sim tablet.  It is running on the OS Android™ 6.0 Marshmallow. It has an internal memory of 16GB and RAM of 1GB. The expandable memory provided up to 64GB. Having primary camera of 5MP.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet review specs

Stereo speakers are given. Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS options are available. A 2MP shooter is provided. Accelerometer, Proximity, Light sensors are present. It has 4290 mAh Li-polymer battery which provides battery life Up to 8 hours. It supports only Wi-Fi connectivity. It is provided with the HTML5 browser. The device comes with 1-year manufacturer warranty.

The tab supports OTG. Provided with a 5V / 1.5A AC adapter. G-Sensor is available. It comes with 2 x front-facing speakers, mic, Dolby Atmos audio, combo audio, mic jack etc. Supports Bluetooth version WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, with Bluetooth 4.0. It comes with micro USB 2.0. Preloaded apps like SHAREit, SYNCit are available.

    PERFORMANCE:

Don't expect high-end specs but at least you get a pretty nice built quality. Interesting design and a bright colorful display we are looking at it now.  The most important thing in a tab is its display as we are looking at it all the time if Lenovo Tab 3 is not good then the Company simply failed in giving a good tablet. So it has a wonderful display and this is awesome. It has an incredible stand with push release button. Jumping into the performance details, the tab has a perfect display size.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet review price specs

We have some front facing speaker with Dolby Atmos sound enhancements and is fairly loud for an 8-inch tab. The sound quality is pretty good and they are far enough apart from your drivers here that you will hear stereo separation if you are launching something like the Asphalt 8 game. On the hinge, it bears a large battery which is one of its selling points. The drawback is, it is a heavy tab and it as a heavy as iPad air 2 which is a 10-inch class tablet.

    Camera:

We always get the boring selfie camera and better rear camera and in this case, the rotating 8MP camera is always the best type. But sorry folks this is not a great camera.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet review price

720p is the highest you can go with that. In good lighting, it's possible to take better pictures and that's all about I can say favorably for the camera. The video shooting is actually good even in low light. It is not bad at all. In good lighting, it is a good camera.

                        PROS:

    ü  Display

    ü  Best design with stand

    ü  Quad core processor

                      CONS:

û  Camera quality can be improved

    VERDICT:

The Lenovo Tab 3 8.0-inch tablet giving very good multi-tasking. It is suitable for all types of purposes. The design is also good. Worth your money. It is available Price around Rs 5,990/- It is a pretty reasonable price for the android tablet.

FDA Approves Symproic® (naldemedine) Once-Daily Tablets C-II for the Treatment of Opioid-Induced Constipation in Adults with Chronic Non-Cancer Pain

OSAKA, Japan & FLORHAM PARK, N.J. & STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Shionogi Inc. and Purdue Pharma L.P. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Symproic® (naldemedine) 0.2 mg tablets C-II as a once-daily oral peripherally-acting mu-opioid receptor antagonist (PAMORA) medication for the treatment of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients with chronic non-cancer pain.

This Smart News Release features multimedia. View the full release here: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20170323006354/en/

Symproic is currently a Schedule II controlled substance because it is structurally related to naltrexone. Shionogi Inc. submitted a petition for the descheduling of Symproic, or removal of the controlled substance classification, to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which is currently under evaluation. Symproic will be jointly launched and commercialized in the U.S. with Purdue Pharma and is expected to be comm ercially available mid-summer.

"The FDA approval of Symproic provides a safe and effective therapy for adult patients suffering from chronic non-cancer pain and struggling with opioid-induced constipation," said John Keller, President and Chief Executive Officer, Shionogi Inc. "We believe Symproic will offer a new therapeutic option to help reduce the needless sufferi ng for those who experience OIC. The launch of Symproic with Purdue Pharma this summer will mark yet another milestone in our commitment to protect the health and well-being of patients we serve."

The FDA approval of Symproic was based on data from the COMPOSE program, a global comprehensive development program comprised of clinical studies conducted in adult patients with OIC and chronic non-cancer pain. It was comprised of three studies: COMPOSE I, COMPOSE II and COMPOSE III. COMPOSE I and II were 12-week, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-g roup studies, while COMPOSE III was a 52-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, long-term safety study.

"By entering this exciting new therapeutic area with Shionogi Inc., we have the opportunity to further help patients with chronic non-cancer pain by offering more comprehensive care to both patients and doctors," said Mark Timney, President and Chief Executive Officer, Purdue Pharma L.P. "The approval of Symproic marks a significant advancement in our partnership with Shionogi as well as the diversification of our product portfolio.

Please see Important Safety Information, including Warnings & Precautions and Adverse Reactions below.

    About Opioid-Induced Constipation

Constipation is one of the most commonly reported side effects associated with opioid treatment, including among patients with chronic non-cancer pain.1 When opioids bind to specific proteins called mu-opioid receptors in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, constipation may occur. Opioid-induced constipation (OIC) is a result of increased fluid absorption and reduced GI motility due to opioid receptor binding in the GI tract. OIC is defined as a change in bowel habits that is characterized by any of the following after initiating opioid therapy: reduced bowel movement frequency, development or worsening of straining to pass bowel movements, a sense of incomplete rectal evacuation, or harder stool consistency.2 In patients with chronic non-cancer pain, the prevalence of OIC ranges from approximately 40 -50 percent.3,4,5,6 In a survey of 322 patients taking daily opioids for chronic pain, 33 percent of patients missed, decreased or stopped opioid use to ease bowel movements.7

    Indication

Symproic® (naldemedine) CII is an opioid antagonist indicated for the treatment of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients with chronic non-cancer pain.

    Important Safety Information about Symproic

    Symproic is contraindicated in:

  • Patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal (GI) obstruction and patients at increased risk of recurrent obstruction, due to the potential for GI perforation.
  • Patients with a history of a hypersensitivity reaction to Symproic. Reactions have included bronchospasm and rash.
  • Warnings and Precautions

Cases of GI perforation have been reported with use of another peripherally acting opioid antagonist in patients with conditions that may be associated with localized or diffuse reduction of structural integrity in the wall of the GI tract. Monitor for the development of severe, persistent, or worsening abdominal pain; discontinue if this symptom develops.

Symptoms consistent with opioid withdrawal, including hyperhidrosis, chills, increased lacrimation, hot flush/flushing, pyrexia, sneezing, feeling cold, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting have occurred in patients treated with Symproic.

Patients having disruptions to the blood-brain barrier may be at increased risk for opioid withdrawal or reduced analgesia. Take into account the overall risk-benefit profile when using Symproic in such patients. Monitor for symptoms of opioid withdrawal in such patients.

    Drug Interactions

Avoid use with strong CYP3A inducers (e.g. rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St. John's Wort) because it may reduce the efficacy of Symproic.

Avoid use of Symproic with another opioid antagonist due to potential for additive effect and increased risk of opioid withdrawal.

    Use in Specific Populations

Symproic crosses the placenta and may precipitate opioid withdrawal in a fetus due to the immature fetal blood-brain barrier. Symproic should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Because of the potential for serious adverse reactions, including opioid withdrawal, in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into acc ount the importance of the drug to the mother.

    Controlled Substance

Symproic contains naldemedine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

    Adverse Reactions

The most common adverse reactions with Symproic as compared to placebo in clinical trials were: abdominal pain (8% vs 2%), diarrhea (7% vs 2%), nausea (4% vs 2%), and gastroenteritis (2% vs 1%).

To report SUSPECTED ADVERSE REACTIONS, contact FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or www.fda.gov/medwatch.

    New Parkinson's Drug Xadago Approved

WEDNESDAY, March 22, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- Xadago (safinamide) tablets have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an add-on drug to treat Parkinson's patients who take levodopa or carbidopa but have instances of increased symptoms anyway, a condition doctors call "off" episodes.

An "off" episode, when Parkinson's medication doesn't seem to work well, may include symptoms such as tremor and difficulty walking, the agency said in a news release.

Some 50,000 Americans are diagnosed each year with Parkinson's, and about 1 million Americans have the neurological condition, the FDA said, citing the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Typically diagnosed in people 60 and older, it occurs when brain cells that produce the chemical dopamine become impaired or die.

The absence of enough dopamine leads to lack of smooth, purposeful movement during activities such as walking, eating, writing or shaving, the FDA said.

Xadago's effectiveness was established in a clinical study of 645 people who were taking the Parkinson's drug levodopa but were still having "off" periods. Compared to people who took a placebo, users of Xadago had fewer instances of Parkinson's symptoms, without uncontrolled involuntary movements that doctors call dyskinesia.

Certain people shouldn't take Xadago, including those with severe liver problems, who are taking a cold medication called dextromethorphan, who are taking a so-called MAOI drug or who are taking certain antidepressants, the FDA said.

Xadago's most common side effects included involuntary movement, falls, nausea and insomnia. More serious adverse reactions included worsening high blood pressure, falling asleep during daily activities, hallucinations, psychotic behavior, compulsive behavior, fever and confusion.

The FDA granted approval of Xadago to Newron Pharmaceuticals, based in Milan, Italy.

The new iPad is coming at a time when Apple's tablet business is shrinking

    More Charts
  •
  • Apple launched a new 9.7-inch iPad on Tuesday, the latest entry in its long-running line of tablets. The big news is that it's affordable: Starting at $329, the new iPad — and it's just called "iPad" — is among the most inexpensive tablets Apple has ever released.

Given that Apple plans to sell the iPad direct to educators for just $299, it also looks to be a counter to Google's Chromebooks — those low-cost laptops that have swallowed Apple's market share in U.S. schools, and are now making a renewed push for everyday consumers.

That's just one part of a larger decline, though. As this chart from Statista shows, the iPad has become an increasingly small part of Apple's business. After a big boom early in the decade, the tablet market matured, big-screen smartphones and convertible laptops started to duplicate much of the tablet's original promise, and many iPad owners realized that what they have doesn't warrant or require regular upgrades.

The result: The iPad falling behind Apple's Mac and Services segments in terms of total revenue. To be clear, this is still a huge business for Apple that has transformed the PC market, and the new slate seems likely to get many older iPad holdouts to upgrade. But the slowdown helps explain why Apple would launch its latest model through a press release, not a big event.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 Taking Orders On Amazon – Release Next Week On March 24 – Bundles With Free 64GB Samsung Memory Cards

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 started taking pre-orders in the US during the last 24 hours, with a short 1 week pre-order time ahead of launch, before the March 24 release date in North America. The price begins at $597 ahead of launch, and there are some Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 bundles to chose from too that includes S Pen and free memory cards: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-9-7-Inch-Tablet-SM-T820

The mighty Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is the best Android tablet of 2017, and it finally has it all. If not, then what would be lacking in the Samsung Tab S3? It comes with the newest Android 7.0 Nougat OS, it has an award winning 9.7-inch retina display that's rated the best tablet display ever tested, with it's 2048 x 1536 resolution Super AMOLED display, active digitizer support, and even an included S Pen.

Tab S3 is a lot faster than its predecessor too, now that it has 4GB of RAM and is powered by a much more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, with single-core scores being 70% higher in Geekbench benchmark tests compared to the Tab S2. And with such a more gaming friendly graphics processor, this will be a popular tablet among gamers too. On the storage front, it has 32GB of built-in storage, and microSD card expansion up to as much as 256GB. Samsung will also give Tab S3 owners 15GB of free Samsung cloud storage.

    Pre-order Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 taking pre-orders ahead of March 24 release

The new S Pen can be used as a mouse, as a digitizer, and to write and draw with, with an extremely long list of features to support the pen and make it useful with. And it's a cutting edge digitizer too, with 4096 pressure levels. You can even make notes on the screen when it's turned off. But there's lots of other apps and features included with this tablet too, like we can expect on a flagship tablet from Samsung, from the ability of pairing it fully with smartphones to advanced security features, free games, and lots of tools for both productivity and creativity.

The 4 AKG speakers are also an important upgrade, first of all because it makes the sound much better than we are used to from tablets. Music, movies, and other audio pop a lot more with much greater bass and a feeling of full sound. Samsung also place a speaker in each corner, and these 4 speakers will rotate according to the position you are holding it in.

And speaking of holding, it feels great to hold in the hand, with 6 mm round edges, perfect balance, and a very low weight of 429 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 battery life is 12 hours long from the 6000 mAh battery capacity, which now supports Quick Charge too. Samsung Tab S3 also has the fastest Internet connectivity, with complete dual-band 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi cover, Bluetooth, and USB 3.1 Type-C. To connect to the optional new Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 keyboard, it has pogo pins connections.

4K video recording is also possible on this tablet now, since the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has been upgraded massively to feature a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, which can record 4K videos in UHD 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps. And on the front of this tablet there is a 5MP camera which can record Full HD video. To secure the Galaxy Tab S3, it has a fingerprint reader located in the home button, but since this is a flagship tablet for Samsung it has every other imaginable tablet sensor as well, from navigation sensors such as GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, and GALILEO, to accelerometer, hall sensor, RGB sensor, gyro, and geometric sensor. So wherever you go in the world with this tablet, it will be impossible to get lost.

I like how Samsung made this such a future-proof tablet that it will be modern even 3 years from now. The same goes for the design. Color options are black or silver, but the black is always the most popular one.

The S Pen is a new feature on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, but Samsung have also made a new optional keyboard cover/case for the Tab S3 which is smaller and lighter than the keyboard for the predecessor, and it works as a tablet stand to. The official keyboard is called the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Keyboard Cover (EJ-FT820) and costs $129.

Another official accessory is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Cover, which costs $59. And as a bundle around the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 release date, free 64GB Samsung microSD cards are included in the launch price. The S Pen is included in the package of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, but additional pens can also be bought.

Now that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has a 4096 pressure levels sensitive pen, 4GB of RAM, a fast processor, 4K video recording, rotating quad speakers with bass, and Android 7.0 Nougat, it is unbeatable as an Android tablet. And it looks like it will be in that position for a long time too, since none of the competitors have been leaked with anything close to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.

Samsung has done the impossible with the Galaxy S8

In the smartphone market, Samsung found success not by differentiating and carving its own path, but by taking a page out of Apple's playbook. Or should we say, 132 pages. Apple turned the cell phone industry on its head in 2007 when it released the original iPhone. There was certainly no better company to model its devices and strategy after, and Samsung's sales skyrocketed once it began retooling its devices to look and function more like Apple's smartphones and tablets.

Samsung still takes pages out of the Apple playbook from time to time — case in point — but it has truly elevated its game in recent years, with several recent generations of flagship phones that contend with the iPhone on every level. There is one are where Samsung flagships have never managed to compete with iPhones, but it looks like that will change with the upcoming new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

In just a week and a half, Samsung will unveil its next-generation flagship smartphones at a press conference in New York City. The wait has felt like an eternity considering how long Galaxy S8 details have been leaking. We know almost everything there is to know about the S8 and S8+, including exactly what they look like and when they'll be released. And now, we know how remarkably powerful these hot new handsets are going to be.

Each year when Samsung launches new Galaxy S phones, they're instantly become the most powerful widely available Android phones in the world. Note the inclusion of the word "Android," however. Samsung's phones are never the most powerful phones, period, because they simply can't measure up to iPhones in terms of power. Apple's in-house chips and its silky smooth iOS software reign supreme each and every year until the next new iPhones are released.

This year, however, it looks like things will be different.

Two separate Geekbench 4 benchmark test results for the unreleased Galaxy S8 smartphone appeared on the Primate Labs website on Thursday night. Long story short, they're very impressive. The S8 managed single-core scores of 1913 and 1978 in the two tests, and the multi-core scores came in at 6119 and 6375.

Both sets of test results come from the international version of the Galaxy S8, which is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 8895 processor, though earlier test results showed similar performance from the US version of the Galaxy S8+, which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

In terms of single-core performance, the Galaxy S8 doesn't even come close to touching Apple's latest iPhones — the iPhone 7 Plus racks up a score of nearly 3500. But in multi-core Geekbench 4 tests, the S8 handily beats the latest iPhones, which always score under 5800.

This is a big victory for Samsung on paper, but it remains to be seen how it will translate as far as real-world performance. As we're sure you'll recall, earlier Samsung phones have come close to matching Apple's iPhones on paper, but iPhones absolutely obliterate Galaxy phones in performance tests that gauge real-world power and speed.

New report reveals US release date and price for the Galaxy Tab S3

Samsung didn't do anything breathtaking at this year's MWC. The Seoul-based manufacturer postponed the unveiling of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, but delighted some of its fans with the introduction of a new tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.

A few days ago, we reported that US retailer Best Buy created a listing for the Tab S3 with a price tag of $599.99 for the Wi-Fi only version of the device, but no information was given on when we could actually expect to see the tablet hit the shelves in the country. However, SlashGear has apparently been in touch with the tech …
