Sony Xperia Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Schedule

Sony just released a list of devices set to upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it's pretty big. Among the included devices we have the Xperia Z5 along with all its variations, as well as the Z3+ and many others, plus the Xperia C4 which is rather surprising, and we expect the update to arrive over the air pretty soon.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is out in the wild now and it brings a lot of exciting features, but we have no exact roll out date for these devices. Sony seems to be rather optimistic about it with a big list, even though some devices are missing. The list is rather incomplete but experience tells us that it will take quite a while for the OTA to arrive to all these devices. It varies from carrier to carrier but you can expect the OTA to start rolling out starting early next year. Right now Sony says that the list is not final so if you don't find your device then don't despair as you will most likely get it too if you have a relatively new device.

We will make Android 6.0, Marshmallow available for: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4*.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow New Features

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a very exciting new release and you should be excited to get it on your Sony device. Among other things, Android 6.0 Marshmallow adds Doze Mode which detects when your phone hasn't been touched in a while and disables certain background processes. Another feature added in Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a dark UI and a possible screen split option, though these two are a bit controversial in the sense that we're unsure if they will make it in the final build or not. Still, Sony owners will be getting this update pretty soon and we are hoping that companies will be more serious about upgrading their devices this year as opposed to last year and this year.
