Surface Pro 4 Release Date October 4 With New Microsoft Design, Huge Skylake Specs? [RUMOR]

(Photo : Microsoft/Facebook) Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 could be on the horizon if new rumors are any indication. In fact, speculation says that the tablet could arrive in October with a fresh design and heavily improved specs. An official announcement of the new tablet model has not happened yet.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 has been tipped for an October release date by another Windows analyst. Sources also tease a major spec upgrade and possible new design.

The news comes to Design & Trend via a litany of recent tweets from The Verge's senior editor, Tom Warren. In addition to working at that tech publication, he's also the founder of WinRumors. As such, the man is likely to have a few inside sources at Microsoft.

Like has been teased by other analysts before him, Warren agrees that the Surface Pro 4 will likely arrive in October of this year. In fact, he goes one step further to say that Oct. 4 could be the exact day that a reveal, and possible release, might occur. It's almost certain that the tablet will headline Microsoft's recent push for Windows 10. Could the 10-4 Oct. 4 date digits signal news of a Windows 10-enabled Surface Pro 4? It's an open possibility.

Where Warren diverges from his contemporaries, however, is in regards to the Surface Pro 4's design. While previous reports suggested a nearly identical form factor to its precursor, Tom says "it won't look exactly the same." He also hints at a "bigger display [and] thinner, lighter" components still being part of the equation. As Microsoft promised to business consumers, the new design aesthetic will still work with previous Surface Pro 3 accessories.

Alongside this new look, its specs are also said to be a major upgrade. When asked if a buyer would regret purchasing a Surface Pro 3 now, his sources said they would. The improvements of the fourth iteration "are not just incremental" apparently. Warren didn't delve too much into specifics, but he strongly believes that the long rumored Skylake CPU seems like a likely addition. As for what will be excluded, he doesn't see the new USB Type-C standard finding its way to the device.

In that case, like most devices of today, the Surface Pro 4's specs will likely feature a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port for file transfers.

It's important to note that Warren doesn't list any specific sources for the details that he's teased. That means everything mentioned here should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Until an announcement is made, anything about this tablet must be considered a rumor.

What would you like to see in the Surface Pro 4's new design and beefy specs? Do you have faith in Tom's rumors? Tell us your thoughts in the poll and comments section!
