Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 launching this July for £939 – is it worth it?

Panasonic may not be the consumer go-to tablet manufacturer, but they do make some of the best tablets for those in need of rugged pads. These machines are built for work, which is why the company can get away with charging £939 (about $1332 USD) for the brand new Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2.

Is it worth that much cash? Let's start by looking at the specs and seeing what you're getting inside.

Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 specs:

  • 10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution
  • Intel Atom x5-Z8550 quad-core processor
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • 32 GB of internal storage
  • 8 MP rear-facing camera
  • Full HD front-facing camera
  • 1xUSB 3.0 Type A, 1xUSB 3.1 Type C OTG, 1xHDMI and 1xMicro SD
  • 9-hours batery life (removable)
  • OK, so this tablet won't win any performance awards, but it can definitely get work done. And specs are not really where Panasonic tries to shine, anyways. They are all about that rugged design, and the Toughpad FZ-A2 definitely stands out in that department.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 was built to withstand your hard day's work. It is made with magnesium alloy and has been tested to handle 1.2-meter drops. In addition, it can operate in extreme weather conditions (-10 to +50°C) and has an IP65 rating, making it resistant against dust and water.

Panasonic is also trying to entice customers by making some accessories for this tablet. These include a couple vehicle cradles, a desktop cradle and a 4-bay battery charger.

Interested? The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A2 will be launching this July. Once again, the price is set at £939. Are you thinking of getting one? Hit the comments and let us know what you would do with a rugged tablet like this one.
