As of late Intel made a big announcement regarding its latest state of the art Atom processor. As it turns out, the American tech manufacturer is cancelling the release of the Atom chipset which is designed for Smartphones and tablets. This is a huge deal because Microsoft was allegedly going to use this new piece of tech in its upcoming project. The Surface Phone is expected to be highly affected by this decision but we've yet to figure out just how hard. It's likely that Microsoft will just go with another processor but the tech company is very open to new options, though we're not quite sure that they can afford new options.
Microsoft Surface Phone Release DateNow Microsoft can just release the Surface Phone project with a new processor but in this scenario. it will sell fewer units than it would have if Atom would have still been released in time. Then again, Microsoft can pull off another strategy by delaying their huge project so that they may still use the Atom chipset but we're not so sure this strategy would work. This is a very competitive year for tech companies and Microsoft is very vulnerable since it's not producing any additional smartphones. It's basically relying on tablet sales which are also dropping.
