It is reported that Microsoft wants to establish its Surface Phone like what it did with Surface Pro tablets. In order to better compete with Apple, Microsoft is going to label the Surface Pro 5 as a laptop replacement so it falls outside the category of the iPad. Up till now, it was believed that the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 would launch this year, but new rumors say that both the devices might get a 2017 launch. The Surface Pro 3 was unveiled last May 2015 and released a month later.

It goes without saying that Microsoft's Surface pro hybrid series have been the most exciting innovative releases in last few years. However, given the state of development, an October release date would be more probable.

According to the insider buzz, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will contain larger display with 4K resolution, increased battery life, new stylus and a fingerprint sensor.

Meanwhile, according to PC-Tablet, the Surface Pro 5 from Microsoft will also feature a rechargeable stylus which is already confirmed as the patent for the rechargeable pen has been seen in the official website of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. The Surface Pro 5 may also come with a stylus dock to prevent the Surface Pen from being misplaced or lost when not in use. The Surface Phone is expected to release in three variants - the basic one, featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, the advanced version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space, and the Pro Variant, with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space.

With regard to pricing, the Surface Pro 5 will likely have a similar price tag to the current Surface Pro 4 tablet.

Microsoft's Surface Book has been able to impress the users in many ways, and this is the reason why many are eagerly waiting for the all new Microsoft Surface Book 2. The Intel Kaby Lake processor is also on the verge of being released and you can be sure that Microsoft will try to use it in its upcoming Surface Pro 5 device.
