Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow update: What we know so far

Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow updateThe Galaxy Note 4 was recently confirmed to receive the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Samsung has been working hard to push out the Marshmallow update to as many capable devices as it can. While the company is trying hard, details are a little vague two months after the release of the Marshmallow update.

The Marshmallow update is still rare to spot in the real world. Two months after its release, it's still on only 0.5% Android devices. A majority of these devices are Nexus phones and tablets, with a miniscule number of devices from LG, Motorola, HTC and Samsung. The slightly worrying part is that while the smaller OEMs – Motorola, HTC have laid out their Marshmallow rollout schedule, Samsung remains quiet.

Samsung may not have revealed any actual rollout schedule, but the company remains hopeful to push the Marshmallow update to the Galaxy S6 and its variants, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S5 and its variants, Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Edge. Some rumours also suggest that the Galaxy A8 will also form a part of the first wave of Galaxy Marshmallow update.

Regardless of Samsung's plans, it's not difficult to claim that the Galaxy Note 4 will be updated to Marshmallow. While Samsung may not have a fast rollout history, the company has been working hard to make the rollouts faster since the Lollipop update. This continues to be true this year as well, with some countries in Europe receiving the Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow update already.

This means that Samsung is still testing the update and optimizing it. It may still need beta-testing before it can be submitted to T-Mobile for further testing and optimization.

In other words, the Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow update is at least a few weeks, if not months, away.

Other carriers have not revealed any Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow update plans yet. Be that may as it is, it is very likely that they will release the Note 4 Marshmallow update as well. The Galaxy Note 4 is still a little over an year old and no carrier is going to drop support for it just like that.
