Shock danger prompts recall of power adapters

Back in November, Barnes & Noble introduced their Nook Tablet 7, a $50 tablet that would directly compete with the likes of the $50 Amazon Fire tablet that launched a couple of years ago. If so, we've got some news for you.

Barnes & Noble is recalling its newest Nook tablet's power adapter, only a few months after its release.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says no injuries have been reported, but there have been four reports of power adapters breaking or pulling apart and exposing the metal prongs, which poses a shock risk.

The major book retailer notes only about 147,000 units are affected by the issue, but the company isn't taking any chances.

To get your charger replaced, head to Barnes & Noble's recall page and register your product using the serial number from the tablet.

Once you have registered, you will be able to print a pre-paid UPS label to return the recalled adapters.

While you wait for a replacement, you can continue to use the included USB cable to charge the Nook 7 with any computer or other charger adapter you may have around.
