Microsoft may be clreaing the way for a new Surface tablet

It is followed by Surface Pro 4 with 30.9 percent and Surface 3 with 21.5 percent, both of which are the latest-available models in their respective segments. This means that fans will expect the Surface Pro 5 to release with the new updated version of the Windows 10 platform already brought onboard.

The Surface 3 has been particularly successful, but Microsoft has never provided actual sales figures of this model. They were also showcases for Windows on a device with an ARM-based processor. Current inventory is extremely limited, as Microsoft's online storefront shows that only the model with 64GB of storage, 2GB of memory, and 4G LTE connectivity costing $500 is now in stock.

As I noted a few months ago, sources have told me that Microsoft made a decision to postpone the delivery of its next version of Windows "Redstone" 2 until early 2017.

The reason for that is because AdDuplex focuses only on the Surface devices that run Windows 10 and, as you may know, neither of the two aforementioned tablets run Microsoft's latest operating system.

Microsoft could be working on the Surface 4, which we didn't really hear much about.

The possibility of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 hitting the market this year is getting slimmer as reports have emerged that the company is still waiting for the next generation Intel processor, the Kaby Lake. After all, standalone tablets are seemingly becoming less popular as 2-in-1s get more powerful and less expensive. The long rumored 4K resolution display is also tipped to be coming, but more likely as an optional upgrade for premium users rather than a standard feature for the device. Although Intel will reportedly continue to ship 2015's Atom x5 and Atom x7 "Cherry Trail" processors for the foreseeable future, the Atom line has come to a complete stop. However, reports have revealed that the Washington-based multinational technology company has actually chose to move the device's release date, mostly due to the fact that several of its main software and hardware components will not be arriving this year. Connectivity options include Wireless AC and Bluetooth 4.0.
