Microsoft Surface Phone release date: Intel's hold on 'Braxton' processors may affect latest smartphone?

Microsoft is currently busy working on its hybrid laptop and tablet devices, namely the Surface Pro and Surface Book line. Some reports claim that the Redmond-based tech giant is also working on their smartphone models.

Rumors are strong that the Redmond-based company will also be incorporating the features of their successful Surface Pro line into smartphone devices.

The upcoming smartphone device named Surface Phone is rumored to use Intel's next-generation Atom chip as its microprocessor. But Intel's latest move could make things tougher for Microsoft and the Surface Phone.

Bitbag reported that Intel has decided not to release its latest Atom chip for mobile phones. The supposedly new generation Atom processor is called the "Braxton." Intel is reportedly facing tough times chipping in to new mobile devices.

Microsoft's plan is to use the best microchip processor. But unlike the previous Microsoft smartphones, the company now needs a suitable mobile phone microprocessor that is compatible with the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 10.
